Back from my walk, freezing and success by the fact my footprints were covered by the time I got back. Unfortunately the wind changed NorthWesterly so I didn't get the entire band of snow that I thought.

Dublin will need a more southerly track of the storm where as NI could be in a good location !

radar suggesting 1-3cm In the next 2 hours if it settles in Dublin!

I am in the north but can't understand why we have an amber warning in force from the met. Unless something happens through the night.

hmmm, that warm sector lasts all night, so probably only snow on hills later, for us north westerners anyway.

So completely pointless for the Met Office to release an Amber warning.

You know it's a good event when you get bored of lamppost watching!

At 3am the 925pha temperature rises to 2c, at the moment it is -3c.The 925pha level is 500 meters.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but to me that is not conducive for snow.  I mean you can clearly see the trough on this satellite image: https://en.sat24.com/en

I can see the big trough on the radar, now. I don't know if the Met Office thinks that's going to be snow?

Being up  a hill definitely helps but if the precipitation is heavy enough it might not melt as it passes through this layer.

Very much so. Just have to wait and see what falls from the sky. Might start of as snow but turn sleetier
