I've got my eye on tonight's early-hours action with the potent frontal systems moving over, 60+mph winds across the Pennines with heavy rain and possibly a squall-line forming out to the west. All of which crossing the UK for tomorrow's early rush-hour.

14C near Rhuallt, North Wales (not far from Liverpool "in air") and beautiful sunshine on the W side of the Clwydian Range. love the Foehn-effect - never mind the wind :)

Thursday should be okay. Nice fresh Atlantic air. A convective westerly with some lightning and hail potential. Not that bad.

Maximum 12.2°C today. Highest temperature for 6 weeks. The last few years we were looking at those temperatures every day pretty much.

Interesting squall line possibilities overnight tonight.  Substantial waa ahead of the cold front. Wouldn’t be surprised to wake up to the sound of a freight train coming through the window.

850s will be sub-zero by 8 AM tomorrow out of interest .

Strong winds making a racket all night here, surprised it’s been that strong really.

Strong gusty winds ahead of a spell of heavy rain, should make for an interesting couple of hours.  Thankfully it will all clear through mid-morn to leave a reasonably decent day ahead.

This morning's squall-line has just passed through here at 7:30am, been up for a good hour or two listening to those gusts outside rattling the roof and moving/breaking things outside. buxtonweather recording 60mph max winds but here locally it was definitely higher gusts from experience, time for a brew now.

Really could do with a dry spell of weather now. Ground getting pretty saturated.

Thunder at 18.20. Did not expect that. Hail in the heavy shower.

Well after over week of getting forecasts wrong it looks like the Met and BBC should be applauded for their accuracy on this mornings squall line.

i was expecting the worst of the weather as I drove to work between 6.30 and 7.00 and that’s when it arrived.

heaviest horizontal rain i’ve seen for a long time.
