That would be a story... you take them to Buxton then get cut off by the worst blizzard since 47. You end up staying for a week at the Palace Hotel.

My view on tomorrow & the weekend.

Headline - Anything but boring!

Friday

A spell of snow to move through the region early morning, enough to give a covering just about anywhere I would imagine. I can see snow falling right down to sea level but maybe not settling near the coast, once this passes through an afternoon of sunshine and scattered snow showers, more so in the South and more like hail/sleet toward the coast by this stage.

Saturday

A horrible day with wind & rain throughout, maybe some early transient snow on the hills. :bad:

Sunday

The least marginal looking day out of the three as it stands.

Sunshine & snow showers throughout the day becoming more widespread and turning heavier by afternoon/evening! I expect a warning to appear for this too.

All in all plenty to be interested in if you are a cold & snow fan, as it stands tomorrow looks good for quite a few for at least another dusting, Saturday looks down right crap but then Sunday looks to end the weekend very cold with snow on the cards once again.

I hope this helps - as ever it may change as you know our weather and our luck but snow is on the cards guys & girls so good luck! :good::cold:

I would say there is already changes to my post earlier, downgrade for tomorrow the lower down you are and nearer coast but an upgrade for Sunday in general.

This kind of chart sums up where most of us live!

Sunday looks far less marginal.

Surprised wasn't expecting snow later tonight, but looks like on the cars, a front moving through the region, could be a decent inch or two first thing - surprise snowfalls are the best!

Look North forecast mentioned a merging of snow showers from around 5.00am covering most of Cumbria. The weekend and early part of next week look interesting too.

I hope she's right because she's been pretty wrong this Winter.

I'm perplexed with the BBC forecast on the TV showing widespread snow later tonight, whilst the BBC website, is showing virtually no precipitation and what there is, light and sleet. No clarity whatsoever, very poor forecasting tonight - lets see, we might end up with the most snow we've had so far this season, out of nowhere!

The bbc forecast at odds with the met forecast..... oh well... what were the bbc thinking? Met offering warnings at times that bbc have no graphics to support it... will be interesting how this pans out over the next few months and year....

didnt see nw forecast but if the ox says snow..... might be good

I'm increasingly becoming wary of the BBC website forecasts, they change on an hourly basis, random precipitation spikes at 6 hour intervals and bone dry inbetween. Snow one hour then dry next two, then sleet, then snow again, then rain - all over the shop.

Might have to get up at 6am instead of 7am now, just to make the most of any snow falling before work.. I'm a big kid.. Night.

Yes i agree with you wholeheartedly -

Guess its a wait and see although sunday could be better than tomorrow as it stands, don't think anyone knows for sure how much altitude will be required and where the shower distribution will be tomorrow morning TBH.

We'll see soon enough of course ..

My instincts have been telling me that there’s something weird going on with the BBC app/website recently. I haven’t seen any heavy precipitation on it at all. Wish I could roll the app back to the previous version.

3.9°C now a bit colder than forecast. A few  -10s 850s around by midday tomorrow. Not long to wait now;  just come in so still catching up.
