oh dear, so now -8 uppers are not even enough for snow, unless your at altitude.

Looking again like altitude will be a big factor tomorrow, more than i thought with those uppers..

Even altitude doesn’t seem to matter this winter.

Everything has been just too marginal and even then, spoilers have usually turned up at the last minute.

The rain that shouldn’t have pepped up until it got towards the SE has become pretty intense. It’s miserable out there now.

You ain't wrong there, I saved this from last summer showing the massive differences that occur in the SE compared to the rest of the country. It's just staggering at times how the SE is influenced by the warmth of the continent in summer.

And it's equally as staggering how were influenced by Scotland ???

In fairness we’ve had a bit of cover on the higher parts around the valley for much of this week and on a few occasions back in January but the amounts have been minimum and even a decent altitude like mine has seen little snow considering the potential which has been on offer.

One positive is that winter hangs on in these parts so you never know, if a few things fall into place you may see the ELR under snow.

BTW is the gala weekend the one with the Harry Potter train on show.

I have been on Bacup Cricket ground in the summer and I am sure we have had warmer days in January.

Snow for Rossendale has been poor so far this year but we still have the rest of February and March and we still can get a lot in the next 6 weeks.   I wouldn’t be surprised to see a snowy Easter.

Its been a fairly average winter for snowfall over the Lakeland Fells, after the paucity of recent years. However, we haven't had any substantial falls, and the milder spells have resulted in rapid thaws, very episodic in terms of duration. In the valleys, number of days of snowfall up to this point probably average, but again amounts so far have been very minor, 2 inches tops. Plenty of winter left, and I'm hopeful we will see a single fall of 6 inches or more.

We managed 2 days of snow cover on Tuesday and Wednesday, which was pleasing to see. Today though was very miserable, wet throughout and dark grey feel, in complete contrast to yesterday morning which was glorious. It really has been a very topsy turvy winter never settling into a groove, mild spells then cold spells then mild, then cold.. since late October, but far more interesting than the last 4.
