Half a degree temp drop per 100 metres gain  in elevation,1 degree drop in saturated air ,so not far off.

Intensity of the band has definitely dropped off. It has spread out a bit more too, but still looks organised enough.

The Ireland forum doesn’t look too promising. Apparently a lot less falling than the radar depicts.

I've just been out and it doesn't feel particularly cold though that might be to do with the fairly low dewpoints more than anything.

remarkable really Kevin, pressure is high and the wind is not exactly fierce!!

Just shows how given the right setup snow showers and low dews are great for our area, maybe we will see a true convective easterly before winter ends, looking at the EC mean later on you can see the blocking to the NE helping force that jet into Europe, if the SSW does what we want and destroys the PV we might get lucky.

WRT tomorrow, looks very much like the front will pass through prior to dinner meaning temps will still be sub zero, i think most of us will get a dusting tomorrow ..

That definitely plays a part.. there is just the slightest breeze. It's 1.7C with dewpoint of -3.1C according to the screen

Might have to go to bed early and get up early to see some falling snow, projected to fizzle out about 7am here, fingers crossed we get a couple of cms at least, and it should stick throughout tomorrow, cloud cover and low temps, indeed chance of some heavy snow showers later tomorrow as well.

1.3/-2.8 here. Wish it would drop quicker. cloud has been underestimated last few days.

Cloud cover, but we have an air frost -0.8°C. Air must be quite dry as there’s no sign of it.

According to the members of eastern Northern Ireland though it's not really amounting to much. You'd think Belfast harbour was getting pummelled looking at that but reports suggest very small flakes without much oomph to them.

Don't know where you get your forecasts from but I am in the same location as you and I am widely projected to get light to moderate snowfall between 4am to 12pm leaving a deposit of 1.13cm to 2.67cm, and nothing forecasted after that on Tuesday.

yes ice crystals floating falling slowly give the doplar the illusion of heavy ppn yet at ground level very little

it evaporates as well as if falls such low humidity
