The best chance for a Easterly is when the models showing it at the short term from nothing maybe about 100hrs out. It very rarely does happen.

saturday suddenly looking very interesting!! Precip hitting colder continental air on 6z GFS!!

I did say last week the best chance of cold/snow could pop up under 100hrs. I think this is a good example. :)

Starting to think I live in a different country lovely sunny spells here and a cool breeze.

Looks like my spring hunt is going to have to go on hold if current models verify:vava:

However I have just purchased some toys for the MOD thread just in case it all goes belly

Up.

I'm surprised the met office didn't put out ice warnings for our region yet for today/tonight.

Remember to keep your feet on the ground. Lower your expectations until the national forecast mentions it. Then ... and only then, you can go into mega ramp mode.

Hopefully we will see a picture of you doing a snow angel soon...

I can’t see anything to get excited about until at least Monday except 150 m plus. Wind is on-shore for most of the time until then. After that it does look very good yes.

Ice pellets and rain showers this morning here as expected.

Heavy graupel shower settling in Manchester city centre. I didn't expect that so early.

The warning is for ICE.

...and snow, as described in the text as follows:

Chief Forecaster's assessment

Rain sleet and snow will affect Northern Ireland and Wales this evening spreading to central and southeastern England during the night. Following this, skies will clear and ice is likely to form. Snow will mainly be away from northern facing coasts and on high ground above 200 m where 2-5 cm may accumulate, mainly in northern areas. Some temporary snow is possible to low levels at times.

Yep, what a flip back by the GFS, that squeeze next week could really hit the spot for some, very interesting from a weather watching point of view to see two air masses collide. Flying to Munch too on Monday

Im very optimistic but the Liam Dutton tweet has me a bit concerned, hopefully a meto upgrade for next week but i will be suspicious unless Exter are on board, and going off that tweet im not sure they are.

Gona reign in my optimism for now..

Presumably this is why the snowline is expected to rise a little this afternoon?

What’s all this talk about tonight? All that happens is winds veer North-North-West  but 850s are 2 C warmer than gnow. Precipitation   Won’t get very far inland with that flow direction either.

Sorry to be negative, but just not seeing it for most of the region atm.
