Of course but it's got nothing on snow in your own back garden.

Fair enough, I can appreciate that. Great to live so close to the fells though.

Wonder how this will pan out next week. Is this our last chance of some snow.Screenshot_20180128-174816.thumb.jpg.ca259e6961042b50d91f94b9390cd568.jpg

A wet morning here and some very gusty winds overnight. Potential for some wintry showers midweek, but sunshine in between.  At least we get rid of the damp/wet mild dross for a couple of days at least and get some nice colder days.

Hopefully more Sunshine than wintry Showers,I think we learnt a week a go than -7HPA Does not deliver from a W/NW Direction.

Yeah, the NW flows have been pretty poor for delivering decent snow in very recent years here, unless at decent altitude. Here, we had a number of decent events on WNW/NW flows from 2009 onwards, but in the past 2 or 3 years or so at least, these have been fairly poor. Even when we expect to have/have decent synoptics, marginality seems to creep in nowadays. Give me crisp, cold sunny days over cold rain any day!

Even most of the -7s  have disappeared now mid week so probably 200 m plus for snow and probably staying mainly dry near the coast. Maybe next weekend could hold some interest, but it is candlemass day on Friday and I generally look forward to spring after that point.

Yes, that seems like a reasonable assessment. Having been quite bullish about snow chances yesterday, the latest metoffice forecast for midweek is quite watered down now in terms of snow chances, presumably due to less favourable uppers now expected etc.

Deja vu tomorrow guys..

ECM brings -7 uppers into the region , surely 200m and beyond will see snow showers in this set up in late Jan?

No mention of snow in the Beeb text as of yet..

It was looking quite promising at the start of the week with the met quite bullish about possible snow to low levels, but forecasts have been more and more watered down since and we are now left with possibility of wintry showers on high ground. I'm sure we regularly did fine with such uppers five years ago or so.

Peak District forecast mentions snow down to 200m in the morning but then snow level rising to 300-400m in the afternoon tomorrow.
