Yes, complete contrast to yesterday, which was a lovely cool sunny day. Still, at least the regional weather presenters will be happy with the present weather. It may be raining, but at least it will be mild.

Problem is that although it comes within the Di Ox “at least it will be mild” category it feels bloody bitter out.

I’ll take -2, cloud and dry over my current 5c and drizzle any day.

To be fair, it was rather chilly out today due to the wind which took the edge of the mild temperature. Roll on the next wintry 'event'. Potential for wintry showers mid next week?

Looks like my shovel will be out again next week if the charts are to be believed.

if it’s anything like the test of this winter though it’ll be potential i’m shovelling rather than snow.

GFS shows uppers of around -7c, negative dew points and WNW/NW flow with showers on Wednesday. Looks like this presents the next snow potential, should it verify somewhere near to what the charts show of course. Snow shovels at the ready.......:D

Yeah no doubt they’ll be the occasional “get the cold in place and the snow will follow” knocking about as well.:)

About as distant as a 1foot x 1ft patch looks on the Pennines over here.

Midweek still looking great on the models for a blast of cold air and possible snow showers on a WNW/NW flow. Uppers still look good at around -7C. At the moment, looks like a decent chance of snow and in the reasonably reliable timeframe as well, unlike all the FI rainbows being chased in the MOD thread. Metoffice on board as well for possible snow to lower levels with the forecast as follows:

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A frosty start on Tuesday; dry but windy later. Wednesday and Thursday will become cold and windy with showers, turning to snow over the hills and perhaps to lower levels.

They forgot to say away from coasts.

Perhaps low levels presumably is talking about inland. If that's the case it's more or a less given it'll be rain/hail on the coast

Only a relatively short hop for you to see snow in the mountains though in what is one of the nicest parts of the country.:)

Of course but it's got nothing on snow in your own back garden.

A beautiful day today. 12.3°C with strong sunshine. Foehn effect on full power. I expect Crosby, Hawarden or Valley to be the warmest place in Britain today.

Next week looks good for snow above 100 m at times, 0% chance for coasts as wind is far too strong again. 850s do not go below -7 either

Headline:

Windy and grey but mild.

Today:

It will be cloudy with the hills shrouded in fog. The cloud will be thick enough for some rain and drizzle, particularly in the Pennines and Lake District. It will also be windy with gales over exposed areas. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Someone tell the Met about the foehn effect; you can’t generalise the whole region  in a set up like this.

Fine and sunny here, even feeling mild in the fairly strong breeze.  Can't supply an outdoor temp has my sensor has been affected by sunlight.
