Does anyone remember the weather on the day of the Zeebrugger disaster ?

Woke up to 6 inches of snow, by 1pm it had all but melted and the afternoon felt tropical.

To be honest, I am not sure what I want from today. I am flying at 3pm and don't want disruption but of course as a true coldie I still want to see some snow.

Yes I remember that one. Took a while for the snow to stick here but I remember building a snowman and the snow falling that Saturday late afternoon. It was still snowing when I went to bed. By Sunday afternoon, it had all gone. It snowed on the Wednesday before as well.

The wind is very light. Does anyone know what implications this has on the rain shadow effect? My understanding is that it would have less of an effect the lighter the wind, but I stand to be corrected.

Looking at the more intense stuff coming closer, and the current snow/rain line,  it's looking good for lots of you isn't it?  As ever, probably too coastal here, but even here not out of the question. Unless I'm missing something ( a definite possibility) it will be snow for lots of people.

That's right. The lighter the wind the better. Strong wind would also mix out the air and lead to rain.

Snow getting heavier here now and starting to stick on the cars.

at the moment it just looks like a continuation of yesterday, sort of Groundhog Day but without the depth of snow in the film.
