The sad thing is I'd even be happy with a couple of hours of transient slushy snow that leaves a whole 5mm, that's how pathetic recent Winter's have been.

Edit: Talking about the weekend not tonight.

Just had some hail I can't control my excitement

I can just see it now in 20 years time weather warnings out for hail and we're all on here getting excited for a possible covering!

Am I the only one who doesn't mind hail? It's not as good as snow but it beats rain any day of the week and it turns everything white if only for a while.

Unless anything develops behind it this seems like the last streamer of the night until tomorrow morning's rain//hail/sleet. It is however reasonably slow moving. That said there's potential for tomorrow now - how many times have we said that this winter.

Better get my virtual snow shovel ready again for later although my forecast for the next 48 hours is pretty straightforward.

tonights showers will be sleet at best due to uppers and surface temperatures being just the wrong side of marginal.

saturday will see snow fail to reach the southernmost parts of the region whilst plastering the midlands

sunday the milder sector will arrive earlier than expected and mean that the northwest sees a bit of sleet over high ground and cold rain elsewhere while heavy drifting snow across areas east of the Pennines causes chaos.

No science behind it but worth a fiver of anyone’s money at the bookies.

That's quite a Blackpool streamer setting up and the winds veering more easterly. The big question; what will it fall as. Anyone near the coast know? And secondly how heavy is it - chance of sticking to wet ground? Those two blue blobs at the far left side should develop into something more significant by the time they hit the coast if I'm understanding this right.

Not  even bothering looking at the radar. I'll shove my head out the window tomorrow when I wake up.

That's a belting forecast mate, more worrying though is it will probably be a 100% correct!

Its really gone cold here now...i refuse to believe any precip( assuming it ever reaches here) will not be snow.

Well it’s 1.9°C here, so we’ll need some evaporative cooling!

No I love seeing convetive hail showers as long as the hail is the proper stuff and not wet hail. Seeing a  shower curtin of hail can look impressive also.

What cold spell, I haven't had a frost.
