Well acc to raintoday temp maps the region, or large parts of it should be zero or below for 7/8 am in the morning so if any precip moves in it SHOULD be snow..

Sunday morning has the potential to be very good. The colder 850s don’t get mixed out as quick now. Still looks like an inversion layer above the surface for a  time so maybe ice pellets might be something to watch out for after starting as snow perhaps.

I'm sure the potential prolonged period of snow for tomorrow morning was not showing this morning. Is this a last minute model development today?

Looks like it. These things do seem to pop up at the end of cold spells. Good thing too.

Typical, just a bit too far south for the beefy shower now hitting the Lakes. Still have a couple of inch cover though, seem to be just over the snowline around here, four days of snow cover now.

Scottish Borders seem to be the ones who have hit jackpot this cold spell.

Let's hope it keeps it's track towards manchester. Could be interesting.

Looks like some kind of trough moving down from the North West currently?

The radar seems to be coming to life all of a sudden!  :cc_confused:

It's heading to the south and east  to my eyes, don't think it'll reach most in the region. Another pasting for the North East unless it starts to track more southwards, in which case we'll get a pasting.

12z gfs shows dew points too high. I'm not convinced.

Unless anything develops behind it this seems like the last streamer of the night until tomorrow morning's rain//hail/sleet. It is however reasonably slow moving. That said there's potential for tomorrow now - how many times have we said that this winter.

Barely any showers today - not sure the met office weather warning justified, and the heavy precipitation that was over SW Scotland is now invading central cumbria - but we are just seeing cold sleety rain from it... not cold enough for snow at low levels.

Fells will be getting another pasting. Tomorrow morning could produce a surprise snowfall for some parts of the region, I;ve learnt the best snowfalls tend to be the last minute surprises never forecast.

Sunday morning looks marginal for most, perhaps a bit of wet snow for some first thing, but plenty of time for things to change if the front is delayed and more slow moving then a couple of hours of heavy snow could fall and give a cover for a time.
