We would get monster showers if Ireland didn't exist:nonono:

Or at least if the isle of man sunk out of the picture, that would probably help.

Seems like Scotlands getting absolutely pasted from showers forming around the same are as Ireland sits down here, we'd be talking 7-10cm of snow if Ireland didn't exist in today's event. What a pain in the weeble.

We would get monster showers if the Atlantic wasn’t there because today has been woeful for snow for most  of NI. The weather warning  is a joke. Iv had one snow shower first thing this morning. Rest of day sun has been splitting the sky.

Quite a few snow showers passed through in the last hour or so. Sadly going by the radar they seem to be the last.

I think he was pointing out to the many people writing off winter on the 19th January that they are a few months of early in doing do so. Yes we've had a rubbish January, but given we've had snow in March before it's not late enough in the year to write it off.

Thats a very good interpretation. I’ll take that. ?

We've had odd bits of wintry showers today, but not been heavy or persistent enough too stick.  Still yet to get that dry powdery snow that sticks around for awhile.

Unless the other models all agree with it I'm assuming a rogue run, not a chance of snow here this weekend. It's been struggling like mad to muster any decent snowfall here today in what are the best conditions.

Our best bet for a snow event looks to be towards the end of the month, if we get a straight northerly to remove that mild air that's coming in on Sunday and then just have it set over us for a few days that would be great. Anything else is pointless as there isn't enough of the Irish sea to get much in the way of coastal showers and the pennines kill anything from the east.

Unfortunately we need continental air for that, seems like 2013 was the last time we had a proper continental easterly. Anything from the west is a slush fest that lasts only half a day.

Yes I agree we need some cold continental air to get proper snow.

Salty air from the sea is a killer. Easterlies are rarity these days but things could change in the next few years or weeks if we are very lucky.

All of a sudden tomorrow morning looks very interesting with a light off-shore flow and precipitation.
