We haven’t had a great winter so far! And I am in a more favoured part of the region. But even though hills around me are snow covered through to Buxton, today is the first day that it is a bit tricky driving. We have had no big falls of snow even in the pennine regions. Birmingham and Gloucester have had more snow this winter than the hills above Macclesfield and Buxton.

Slight covering of accumulated hail here in the western peaks, it's turned more to snow over Kinder, Brown Knoll, and Shining Tor from what I can see out the window. Nice clear-blue skies though for this morning so it's good to finally see the sun once again after a few days of murk.

Radar starting to pick up now. Snows wet now but still nice fluffy flakes.

Possibly, amazing how much more snow can fall on the peaks.

Looks like the Irish sea is coming to life anyway.

Very wet and sleety, even in the heavy showers, not going to see any more lying snow now I don’t think.

Snow and Ice warning this afternoon into tonight.

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/warnings/NW

"The high ground of Northern Ireland and northern England will also see 10-15 cm building up. At low levels, parts of the warning area will see 3-7 cm of snow but some places near the west coast will see very little."

In other words the lancashire-liverpool corridor will yet again be dry as a bone.

Ice warning and snow for hills for tomorrow

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/warnings/NW

And a snow warning for Sunday, which yet again excludes the lancashire-liverpool corridor in all but name.

"

Amounts of fresh snow will vary considerably across the warning area. Most of the snow is expected on higher ground with 3-6 cm likely above around 200 m and perhaps 10-15 cm locally on ground above 300 m. At lower levels 1-3 cm looks more likely, with some spots escaping altogether."

Time to consider moving inland? That said these weather warnings tend to be wrong, so I might be buried by Sunday :p

More ice than snow at the moment but its settling and usually turns to snow at the end and plenty more coming on the radar it appears.

Nice bust of ice pellets even here near the coast, so hopefully with temperatures dropping off more soon we'll get some proper snow out of this spell at last.

Last chance saloon this weekend before it turns much milder for a time next week, approaching late winter now clock ticking on it.

A couple of showers of soft hail so far today, but a current shower looks like it is beginning to turn to snow...

...and it's gone!  I think I jinxed it!

So far it seems to be a very very similar pattern to Tuesday, very sleety in the morning turning to a mixture of hail/light snow in the afternoon. The only positive to take is the snow is much more frequent and a lot earlier at this point! The negative is the ground is very very wet so the shower's need to be very heavy for it to stick to the ground making it even harder than it would have been Tuesday. Next front of clouds appears to be rolling in; let's see what's under it.

What’s this interesting backing of the wind tomorrow morning?  Not much precipitation associated with it though.

Looks like another let down here, precipitation completely disappearing from the Irish sea or falling to the south of us, just as we were starting to get snow. One of these days it'll happen.
