Wow, you've waited long enough, being a 24/7 shift worker, I know how  soul destroying it is when it falls at work. Make the most NW, I hit lucky having days off yesterday as recently I've been driving into work as it's started so chuffed I've hit lucky. But night shift prevails for the Sunday event. Enjoy

Lasted about 5mins LOL.

Bit like me in my old age :D

Yeah i do 4x4 shifts Kev, 4 days 4 days off, 4 nights 4 off.

Would be great to get an 80s winter again, i'm 44 so have fond memories of 82/83/85/86/87.

Think those years molded me into the sad snow fanatic i am to this day !!

Proper big fluffy flakes and settling on everything! Lovely! I would say it looks dryer than what we had on Tuesday/Wednesday!

Wet in chadderton James- i be going home to lees in an hour or so, hopefully a few heavy showers later and a covering that will make it thru saturday, i would have loved to have had a walk up on the hills but not going to be possible as im in work and dont finish until monday morning.. :(

Chill out dude! You had a bit to drink?

It was off topic anyway lol!

Mate I work 12hr night shifts, so I'm out for 14hrs, and my body clock takes some adjusting. Don't presume everyones aholes. That's like me presuming your a dole waller being up this time of morning as I know nothing about you from the last ten years on here, so give it up

If we get some good heavy showers, you might be on with a chance, re evaporative cooling. Just got to hope the temp doesn’t rise too much during the day.

GFS still suggesting some heavy showers later this afternoon and evening- fingers crossed !!

(Still would love to see heavy convective snow showers from the east but they are so rare nowadays..ah well..

Snow seems 'dry' here. Everything covered with a dusting so far.

Well chuffed for you, as it really takes some luck even for up north atm. But next few days gives some hope and it's only a matter of time that the high approaching leads to another event.

We Northerly/ long timers know cold spells don't last, but recur every 10/14 days. Here's 24hrs ago in geordieland, and we're only half way through a UK Winter. We know our winter up here lasts at least a month longer.

I was always scared of Jack Frost when I was little, but  last night he looked like he was pointing towards something

A view that I like.

Will it stay or turn to slush?

Well hello Ian, thought you would have been in sweet spot last night given your fab location. Good to see you have a white wonderland this morning. We're only half way through a UK Winter which is only  third of the way for us thankfully.

Sorry didn't get chance to meet in Edinburgh but glad you enjoyed it with the fam.

After just watching the underwhelming BBC forecast I doubt it.

he managed to do a full forecast without even mentioning northern England, skipping straight from Scotland to South Wales when talking about snow chances.

Strange reading about high temps in the region. Especially as it's snowing here now.

A  quite frosty start here and skies are clear, looks like no snow here today.

Looks like all the snow showers are up to the north of the region.

Yeah similar shifts here, im 44 in March, might explain our obsession, as I do recall being knee deep for many a year though I was probably only 3ft tall. Haha, but even into my teens I remember me and my sister 'finding' old gas board cordons to use as sledges and they were crazy fast. Weird I can't find Google image of them, that's how old I feel. But they are similar to this and way too fast, my sis broke her arm on one ?

Youv' e obviously been woken up by Rihanna at least 5 times then.

I was more cheerful as Dean Martin sang Let it snow.
