Simon King has just said that only high ground will get snow.

0- ? Low ground

?-over 300m High ground ?

I think most pros consider 200m and above high ground.

But it could mean 300m..

At the moment it doesn't look great...

UKMO 12Z shows the -6 uppers dont even make the region ..

Delays up to (and over) 30min around Buxton this evening as rush-hour traffic with a combination of road closures and lying snow are hampering the area. buxtonweather showing more reports from the public of the conditions out there. http://www.buxtonweather.co.uk/

We got it proper snow all lying on every surface

Not much more than a slushy mess now though but it did dump a couple of cm in little or no time which was an improvement on last nights non event.

maybe more to come overnight and Friday is looking good but worryingly the temperatures are over the place at the moment.

As chris says, the colder uppers should start moving in this evening and overnight lasting to tomorrow night.

Fingers crossed..

Let’s hope that they move in holding hands with the showers although knowing our rotten luck, the showers will sod off to plaster other parts of the country while we bask in dry and sunshine.

Yep, not much point in freezing cold air with no precip.

Suffering model fatigue here.

Knowing that double figure temps are on the cards next week it's time for a rest.

Good to see Cumbria in all its glory     pitches and  ridges coming into condition hopefully a freeze will set in to sustain the enjoyment. I will be up to Langdale in a few weeks time Bowfell or the Crinkles but being here coastal at 0 asl it's hard to take until our move to near the Howgills. Good to see members posting some good reports.

Hail and sleet this evening. BBC weather seemed to think chance of snow to lower levels tonight and tomorrow.

4-6hr gap now in the showers before they start to form again early hours of morning, according to BBC weather and looking at the radar they may be right.  Should allow the temps to drop but I'm not expecting anything more than another slush fest tomorrow.

Judging by the radar the wind shifted direction alittle bit to more westerly.
