Hi,

Your understanding of the TAFs is probably better than mine! Am I correct that the above is up to 23:00 with rain showers or snow possible from 02:00 onwards?

Correct but the front has cleared by then,so it will be the wintry showers that are forecast

Once the LP has cleared.

I am not hopeful for tonight, but could see snow once it clears and actually GFS shows lots of snow showers for the NW on Friday. Something to look forward to at least, rather than lot of cold rain that could have given us a real dumping!

On closer inspection the TAF forecast that forecast snow showers later,I am wondering

If there is a wrap round the LP as it exits to the NE dragging the colder air from the NW

Similar to what happened in December from the Slider

Come on SP? You know it's really snowing like buggery - so why deny it? You've had 24" of powder snow, since 1800 hours!:D

Fax charts are delayed as well. Update just in, and I quote "It has come to our attention that our servers have been compromised over the last 24 hours and we now deem it necessary to have a total blackout on further output. The perpetrator, a Mr Darren Betts has now been reprimanded" :)

The intended excursion was meant to be Ribblehead on the S&C.

Due to a traction failure south of Garstang we decided to change our route.

Quick easy bimble up to Wainwrights original walk - patches of snow at 784 asl - the fells looked fantastic - zooming in on the Langdales in a snow shower.

Cumbria looks well placed for another dusting tonight.

As for Salwick yesterday a brief sleet snow blizzard all of 3 minutes - and that was your lot.

It’s far too warm to snow (for most) end of.

Might be at the moment but heavy precipitation can change things rather quickly.

Looks like it's turning to snow as it hits the Lakeland fells but will it be snow at this altitude? Temperature at 3.1C so think it'll be sleet here, maybe snow later?
