That is good news, especially given the airports ASL

Yeah, 69m asl I think. It is only a possibility and does state rain as well. Not expecting snow, so will be a nice bonus if it occurs!

Recently updated Manchester Airport TAF once again maintaining possibility of snow from 20:00 onwards through the night. Considering this alongside the metoffice forecast surely means they are seeing potential for snow at low levels throughout the region?

I suppose falling snow may be possible, but not lying snow surely? My temp is 5.2 and dp is 0.8, going to take a hell of a cool down for snow to stick.  Unless you live up a hill I would give up now.

The MetO one is over caution after the disaster north of the border yesterday.

Where? Heavy rain event for me on the app all night, reaching the barmy heights of 7c at 2am in the morning.

Are the pennines in NW england?

The top of Cross Fell is in Cumbria, so yeah. So are Alston and Nenthead to the east of it. I’d imagine that temperature will be for the plateau up there where nobody will be.

Airport TAF says rain, then heavy rain, then rain, then snow.

Unless they have had a last minute update cannot imagine that changing

Had no alerts today so I would imagine it to be correct

Indeed if it was news 24 it' the same forecast all day.

Would imagine the forecast in 15 mins on BBC will be up to date and a lot different.

Woke up to rain this morning. Drove to work through Bolton and a slushy covering. Got to Kearsley ( lowest ASL in the Bolton Borough ) and they had a full covering.

You could not make it up.

Hi,

Your understanding of the TAFs is probably better than mine! Am I correct that the above is up to 23:00 with rain showers or snow possible from 02:00 onwards?

Radar is Showing the rain very close to me,there is sleet showing over Wales but it looks

Like over the mountains,no excitement in the Wales thread so that sounds correct.

I don't want to be pedantic but surely that would mean it starts off as snow?

Does that sound realistic? Euro 12z shows rain away from the hills.

Yeah thinking about it now it does look like rain all the way.
