wish i could see between 24-48 hour progression.

Its so hard to tell but i think its further south than GFS!!

The UKMO is certainly further south than gfs and doesn't develop the low much.

Irish Sea has roared into life South of IOM.

Yes things could start to get interesting in the next hour or two.

you said this would happen the other day though. Usually does tbf!

You are right though more development in the Irish sea.. still rain here.. however if the precipitation becomes heavier it will be snow

Presumably this will explain the heavy snow showers in the Manchester Airport TAF forecast from 18:00 onwards. Fingers crossed.

The updated Aprege is similar to the earlier run and it is a bit too north for our region. The only one so far but from what I remember with the December slider fiasco the Aprege and the GFS were too far north with the low so maybe a model bias.

Skies have totally cleared now and temperature has dropped to 2.6c

Don't think I will see anything here until tomorrow nights rain

Good luck to everyone else

Direction of showers has gone back around to  WNW again when they've been coming from the WSW all afternoon, whats on the ground here is more ice than snow but looks the same! Weather station showing -1oc.

The radar looks decent now, streamer setting up, heading for Wirral, Liverpool, Warrington, St Helens. Starting as hail/sleet, hoping it will last long enough to turn to snow though.

Funny how those wintry showers are skipping over the Pennines to the east with merry glee giving decent snow to Bradford/Leeds etc.... yet if it was an easterly they'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming to let loose anything but snizzle & snow-grains on our side.

Raining again. Truly devastated today.

Could anyone on the forum give me an insight to what Lakeland (Ambleside/Winderere) can expect rest of today and tomorrow? Thanks.

Erm hardly any snow here in Leeds. Nothing settled and was raining half an hour ago. Then a hail storm and recently light snow. So it's not as great as you may think lol
