Gone from heavy snow to this and so have decent elevation. Best bet looks overnight

The low just a tiny bit further south on the 06z. It won't make any difference though. I'm guessing curtains for that.

The model thread seems to be silent about it. It sums up the gloom and doom there.

In fairness I rather the strong winds as any snowfall is limited anyways in my eyes but it looks like we might not even get that!

Got to say, the Irish sea does tend to act differently to the North Sea in convective situations, I guess some reasons for the lack of convection is because of the Isle of Man situated where it is, the flow is too strong so showers just don't have time to develop and lastly, perhaps there is not enough instability in the atmosphere at the moment.

Just managed to catch up with the model output. So diappointing to see they have corrected tomorrow's low north. At least Cumbria should still get several hours of snow.

You never know it could still correct south.

Tomorrow night's low was realistically never going to happen in regard to snow. The low was wrapped in mildish air with relatively high dewpoints.. even the portion with the offshore wind. I'm not surprised whatsoever. Today is going exactly how it should have been expected so far... Showers mostly of rain and hail west of Manchester and sleet and snow east of.

Don't think the air is really all that cold enough for snow at lower levels anyways to be honest with the low, the 0C upper air gets very close to the region anyways so I don't think we would be missing much.

Don't think any snow was forecast until later this afternoon/Evening Both Manchester and Liverpool TAFS remain unchanged.

Looking in the NI Thread and very uninspiring.

During heavy precipitation even uppers of -1 or -2 can deliver. Even that is out of reach as this stand.

Not very likely as we are so close to the event. I suppose our last chance for a decent correction south are the afternoon models.

Apparently any old one of us can start these so I've took the liberty.

Obviously the reason for the new thread is some serious potential snow this week. Tonight for high ground and down to medium to low levels tomorrow.

In addition to that severe weather that could range from a severe snow storm to a severe wind and rain event depending on positioning of the incoming low is forecast for Wednesday night with a return to colder air and snow showers towards Friday. All very exciting coming up. Let's go.

Here's why were getting excited it's the pink stuff (white stuff) as always

This is the last thread:

Also as this is the first thread of the new year, Happy New Year.

Ah, got beaten to it lol! Thanks for opening a new thread. You’ve done a great job on it! :good:

Did look like the length of the older thread was piling up with too many pages!

We will have 3 hours of -8 uppers tonight. That's our best chance and then back to rain and sleet tomorrow. lol
