Apparently any old one of us can start these so I've took the liberty.

Obviously the reason for the new thread is some serious potential snow this week. Tonight for high ground and down to medium to low levels tomorrow.

In addition to that severe weather that could range from a severe snow storm to a severe wind and rain event depending on positioning of the incoming low is forecast for Wednesday night with a return to colder air and snow showers towards Friday. All very exciting coming up. Let's go.

Here's why were getting excited it's the pink stuff (white stuff) as always

This is the last thread:

Also as this is the first thread of the new year, Happy New Year.

The Euro4 is generally poor for our region but that’s because it thinks there will be an absence of precipitation for many of us.

Bear in mind these are cumulative 6 hour precipitation charts. This is why the snow accumulation outlook is so poor for us. https://expert-images.images-weatheronline.com/daten/proficharts/en/euro4/2018/01/15/basis12/ukuk/pr06/18011618_1512.gif

I remember there was some talk about that model being poor on convective initiation.

One thing Netweather teaches you, is to never look at computer generated weather symbols for your forecasts.

You can see what is in effect an animated version on the latest BBC forecasts and they show the snow basically missing the NW yet magically appearing out of thin air above the Pennines. It all looks very odd, so I wouldn’t pay much attention to them for this showery setup
