Anybody watching / following the Australian Open tennis  (Melbourne) ?
I catch a couple of hours of live play each morning.
Kyrgios v Tsonga as I type.
Some old guard doing well, Nadal, Djokovic, Federer.
Only Kyle Edmund left in the singles for the Brits I believe .. but he's done very well so far.
Through to the last 16 after a gruelling 5 sets in the extreme heat, on next to play Italian Seppi

Number one seed Rafael Nadal progressed to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open by seeing off Argentina's Diego Schwartzman in four sets.

Nadal, 31, won 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 6-3 on Rod Laver Arena to set up a last-eight meeting with Croatia's Marin Cilic.

Young H. Chung of S. Korea puts out Novak Djokovic in 3 straight sets to reach the Quarters.
Chung played very well, but Novak seemed troubled again with injury.

Yes !!!!!  Wonderful news   :yahoo:
I am truly gutted though that my Sky box has chosen to go wrong (?) just now.
My overnight recording of this match failed and is still faulty  *weeps.
Hope I can sort it for the Semis.

The Women's Final ....

Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki will meet in Saturday's Australian Open final with both women hoping to finally win a first Grand Slam title.

The top two seeds make their Melbourne final debuts at 08:30 GMT.

Also at stake is the number one ranking - and Denmark's Wozniacki, 27, would overtake 26-year-old Romanian Halep with a victory.

Looking forward to the match, 2 fun players to watch with a chase everything, counter punch style. Will be a sickener for whoever loses I think - both must think they ought to have won a grand slam by now!

What a superb final !!
So hard fought in the heat ...
Wozniacki the champ.  :)

Wozniacki wins first Grand Slam title 7-6 3-6 6-4

Both women needed medical time outs and the 'heat rule' was applied giving

a 10 minute break after the 2nd set.
It was tough !  2hrs 50 mins.   Great match.  Sad one had to lose.

Pleased that Wozniacki won, she has been so close so often.

Nothing at all aginst Halep and I think and hope she will win a major very soon.

Davis Cup 1st round time again.
Spain v GB on the outdoor clay in Marbella.
GB have a tough task with both Murray and now Edmund out .
Nadal not playing either, but Spain have several top 40 players.

First rubber result .........

GB's Broady beaten 6-3 6-4 7-6 (8-6) by Spain's Ramos-Vinolas

Wow, Cameron Norrie (GB) comes back from 2 sets down to beat
Agut  (Sp) in a wonderful 5 set match.
So unexpectedly, that is 1 rubber each today.
Doubles tomorrow.

Amazing result, althought I had never heard of Cameron Norrie, before today that is.

Disappointing today .. the Spanish pair Busta & Lopez beating Inglot & J. Murray in
3 straight sets.

Now 2-1 to Spain.  Two singles to play tomorrow (Sunday)
