Important information related to Intel cpus.

A huge security issue has been identified in the intel series processors released in the last 10 years. A fix is on the way, but some may not like what it will entail:

This article shows the performance implications with a patched kernel running on the linux OS. The results in some scenarios are a MASSIVE reduction in performance. Other scenarios not so much, but a ballpark figure of 17-23% is expected. No word so far on how windows and iOS will be affected.

AMD cpus are reported to not be affected.

Not just intel, AMD and arm also have issues

The real question is why did this bug take so long to be found. I can't help but wonder how long have Governments being using this flaw and how long have hackers.

Could also patching the system to run slower anyways and in the meantime blame the processor.

Intel stance is totally farcical  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/22/intel_spectre_fix_linux/

Are AMD and Intel going to delay new chip launches while they redesign the hardware ????
