Showers of hail/rain/sleet/snow could continue way into tonight according to some models, maybe a covering for parts of Essex and north London by dawn. To me it looks like a Cheshire gap streamer as there has been a lot more showers than modelled/forecast. Just a possibility.

Looks like that Cheshire Gap streamer might have some clout to it!

Winters back on!...according to gfs 12z. Careful what you say if you go into the MOD thread, some take it all very seriously but at the moment it's all a bit of a giggle. :)

MetO update looks okay-ish but considerably less bullish than of late. Can we squeeze a week - a few days - of ‘proper’ cold and snowfall down here through his SSW? That’s all I want. That’s all.

Light snow's falling down in the centre of Folkestone.

Big flakes. Biggest I've seen this winter.

Its probably not going to result in much but still.

And just like that's its gone.

Just had a heavy snow/graupel shower. Temporary white covering. Looks like that’s it here though unless something else pops up. That blob over London looks like it’s weakening.

Well my few flakes falling have, so far, remained that way. My table outside isn't even wet from that shower!

I reckon it will pep up as soon as it leaves London.

It’s a bloody joke in summer we often see showers pep up over the London area in winter this doesn’t happen..

It's the convection that does it... In Winter it dies over us, in Summer it builds.

Where I live seems to be particularly dry compared to places just a mile away. It just goes to show that weird microclimates exist even in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the world.

Jaffa cakes.

I was watching that blog too. It's weird how showers die as they cross London but the one that avoided London stayed strong. Something to do with the urban heat?
