Let's do that. Even BBC London news are saying that we could all be seing some snow tonight, so even they are expecting things to pep up.

Meridian were not so bulish, they just had the odd flury on radar.

I don’t think Steve is denying that there is ppn in the North Sea.

He said the ppn over the Midlands is weakening which he is correct.

Dont quite understand what all the fuss is about.

Norfolk, Suffolk into east Kent maybe in with a Dusting though.

exactly :)

Been snowing all evening in Peterborough, albeit quite light and barely dusting the surface.

Still, good to see it coming down!

Pretty much shows how quickly the precipitation fizzles out as it moves inland, I live on the south side of Peterborough and I haven't had a single flake this evening. Hopefully the stuff to our north will push in with more intent.

I think people are getting confused. This isn't just a band of showers, showers die out over land because they stop getting energy from the ocean. That's not the only element to this system. It also has frontal forcing acting on it, so whilst it is pepping up over sea at the moment, it's not the only driver here.

Frontal systems last far better and for longer over land than showers do

So are u saying it's likely to pep up and if so what's behind that likelihood

Convection seems to be building slightly to the south of London in the last 2 radar runs, I still think that it will build as time goes on, plus the front is beginning to make itself shown as it peps up to the Northwest of our region.

There's some decent PVA at the 700hPa level which is probably helping pep up the precip at the moment, this moves Southwards with the front which should help prevent the front from dying as fast

There's also (albeit not amazing) a converge line running along the frontal boundary, which again will help draw air upwards keeping the system alive

East Anglia is the best place to be, I still think those South of London might struggle to see much, most models have it dying out/significantly weaker by this point

Could the front be pepped-up by the “flurries” moving in off the North Sea?

There does seem to be more precipatation showing and more heavy showers. Maybe air becoming more convective. Next few ahours will become interesting.

Hardly any snow for the SE on that chart..

I'd hate to have to endure that cold without any snow.

I assume, you are joking!! I would be gobsmacked, if many parts of the SE, failed to get a decent snowfall, from a synoptic set-up, like that! As it's so far ahead, pointless arguing about it, anyway.

Sorry, this is the chart, D.V.R., was commenting on but way out in the far reaches of F.I.

The night is still early, it will pep up as it moves South and, as Daniel smith noted, there is a convergence which will help intensify the ppn to a degree.

We are still not looking at much more than a dusting anywhere West of the Greenwich Meridian though, especially those in the S and SW of our region, but those East of that should fare quite well.

I mean in fairness - Even East Anglia probably wont see more than 1-3cm, I'd class that as not seeing much too

Outside, the sky was almost brown

The clouds were hanging low.

Then all of a sudden it happened:

The air was full of snow.

The children rushed to the windows.

The teacher let them go,

Though she teased them for their foolishness.

After all, it was only snow.

It was only snow that was falling,

Only out of the sky,

Only onto the turning earth

Before the blink of an eye.

What else could it do from up here,

But fall in its usual way?

It was only weather, really.

What else could you say?

The teacher sat at her desk

Putting ticks in a little row,

While the children stared through the steamy glass

At the only snow.

always loved this poem.

Consensus now is nothing to reach Medway from Beeb and METO. Looks like a non starter for us, good luck EA!

Tom, I know it's FI. :)

GFS shows barely any snow for us on that chart.

I was just saying, to have such nice looking charts and not get any snow out of it would be frustrating.
