Snow and Ice warning extended to cover mid and east Kent and Essex :) MetO showing light snow between 5pm and 8pm for Ashford tonight and then heavy snow changing to light snow between 3am and 9am tomorrow morning :)

I have a feeling we'll see more than yesterday!

It’s more for Norfolk and Suffolk after reading the text with it

the further south warning is for ice

Well just popped out for my break and have to say it really isn’t cold at all

not even a cold wind just a breeze

i think this cold spell is a bit pants at the mo

hope tonight could be fruitful

Sleet freezing over once it dries out then, by the sound of it.

Yes it says ice will be more of a hazard but 1cm snow possible. Better than nothing... and better than what it looked like yesterday. I have a feeling we’ll see some surprises.

It's very chilly here and a ene wind blowing, just wondering where its coming from, as I was expecting north winds. Even nnw perhaps.

very light fluffy flakes for the past ten minutes, too light to settle but lovely to see something fall after so long! was starting to think this spell would fail to deliver even a flake here as this is the first stuff, but it managed and i'm also hopeful for tonight. anybody here got any input on risk of snow here in hunstanton?

This current winter I have found the HIRLAM to be the most accurate high res output

casting my mind back to the slider event it was the only model to have snow in South Essex & North Kent which turned out to be correct

anyway PPN echoes for later

Defo some warmth when in the sun with shelter from the breeze, but when out the sun and in the breeze IMO it does feel raw.

Looking at obs, temps in and south of London 3-4C atm where the wind is ENE/NEly, but to the north of London temps are widely around 1C with the wind from the N, which bodes well for later.

Quite a bit of cumulus bubbling up from the shallow warmth developing at the  ground from the sun and rising up into the cold air aloft, hoping it may produce the odd snow flurry this afternoon, before the weakening snow band arrives this evening.

LIght/mod snow started in Ringsfield, near Beccles, Suffolk. Its settling on grass and paths etc but it is a bit polystyrene like at the mo..appears to be getting heavier.

Some quite chunky flakes now. Doesn't look like it'll last long, though.

How thrilling for us on the North Kent coast

So looks we might get the tiniest amount over night then?

Yes looks that way no more than 1cm for the lucky ones, unless the wash can pump some moisture into the front... It's still throwing ppn put currently and running south west into West London areas

Possible 1-3cm at low levels and a chunk of Kent is under the warning now.

what I would give to wake up with 3cm of snow!

that's the best high res model output for snow i've seen for hunstanton all winter and it's for this evening! that'd be great so see come off

for now it just started snowing again with very nice dry fluffy flakes and it seems to be heavier this time, starting to try and settle on some surfaces

Forecasts are chopping and changing as much as Chelsea leaking goals atm!!.As SM mentions it will be a nowcast situation if the band hasn't broken up by the time it reaches the SE.That said the beeb seem pretty sure the band will reinvigorate  this evening and overnight hence the warnings(Of which i am just outside of lol).Tomorrow looks cold and sunny after any wintry showers have left but Thursday upto 7 degrees before dropping back to 5/6 degrees for Fri-Sun.I feel the wait will go on for me to see proper settling snow this winter but still have about 5 weeks more winter left in more book and although so many potentially snow charts for my area have failed to materialise this winter it has been so much more enjoyable compared to last 3 winters that down here in terms of cold and snow have been dire and that is being polite!!

On the train from Prague to Vienna now, gorgeous sunshine and outside temperature hovering at 0C. A dusting of snow, here and there in the countryside. Prague was chilly this morning (-5C) but beautiful in the sunshine. Hope the SE sees snow tonight!
