Like the look of this.. for one it will be colder wth temps ahead of this front around freezing no warm winds of n.sea.

And its frontal so if Carol right we could be in for a few inchs in the lucky spots

Keep watching.

We in the SE are probably the sweet spot in terms of conditions, so any precipitation will fall as snow. One to watch, see things do pop up at late notice when we have week long cold spells as this one.

It’s a bit strange because the GFS precip weakens the front but the fax chart develops a wave which normally would enhance the precip and slow it’s movement .

Exactly what I’m saying. the GFS is rather inaccurate, the closer it is, in my experience it’s better the longer term forecasting. I prefer arpeggios and stone for 24hours ahead and of course radar watching, but if it did come of we would be looking at several cm’s as you say due to the slow movement of any precipitation.

bang smack under the heavy shower near canary wharf here in London. Covered everywhere at sea level in minutes. Surprised how heavy it is.

EDIT: Didn't last very long - still going but only roofs, cars and grass covered. Nice to see such thick powdery snow

Little bit heavier now, in Lee but still only a flurry.

Anyone canary wharf looks heavy over there

yup it was - I'll try and post some pics. Heaviest snow of the season so far. I was watching it come in across the thames and everything was blurring out as it came in closer. They advantage of working on the 15th floor

Ashford seems to be in no mans land between the streamers to the east around Folkestone and to west over E. Sussex and West Kent

Whiteout in Hastings, as can be seen on the seafront webcam right now: https://www.beaming.co.uk/company/hastings-pier-webcam/

Yes, absolutely throwing it down apparently in Bexhill as well. Seems to be clipping that corner. Nothing here 12 miles west!

I'm currently in Basildon and the sky is very dark looking down the A127 towards Southend. Hopefully it's heading in this direction.

We had a slight dusting in Heybridge when i left for work. Nothing great but nice to see.

Just to add that the heavy shower did arrive and it was rather impressive, covered all surfaces with ease and has only since melted on the main roads.

Makes you wonder how much we could have had if there had been a persistent rash of showers overnight.

Definitely more of  an easterly component, to the flow now, helping to drive those showers up the Thames, towards, London.

Tom.

The very light dusting we did have has largely melted now. What does it take these days to get snow to stay in the ground for more than an hour?

I'm low-key hoping Tuesday night doesn't bring snowfall, I have a driving assessment Wednesday morning

I'm in East Grinstead today

First proper snow shower rather than a flurry. Nice to see some big flakes
