Regarding snow risk, the GFS has temproary dustings in Particular Kent and Norfolk/Suffolk. There is the risk of a dusting Tuesday from that slow moving front.

Little if nothing from the arpege or the EURO4 (Up to Monday lunchtime). I must admit that the models look a little pessimistic to me so it is best to keep an eye on things. For a start we will see how convective the set up will be tomorrow afternoon to judge whether we will see some proper snow as the temperatures and dew points drop.

Nice to see the convective showers way out east in the north sea now showing on radar as turning sleety, I know it's not from observation but just model data, but still, bodes well for the next few days as the land's much colder than the sea :D

Was just reading about the 10 worst winters in UK history and they showed this picture from 1940...notice something quite remarkable?

What time can we expect things to turn from rain to wintry?

I think late afternoon tomorrow onwards. I'm taking that from the 12z dew point charts someone posted earlier

Hi guys i unfortunately cant post as on my mobile. Can i ask you to go and have a look at the snow risk maps. Run the sequence from 84 to 90 hours. All of our region is under snow for long and how much who knows. What i will say is this is the one i have been watchkng for the last 5 days and there has been very little movement in time say 6 hours. But its still there and is a stromg signal. Hoping it verifies. Now remember these snow risks are from gfs

As I thought a couple of days ago, complete waste of time if im honest, roll on spring, winters in this part of the world are laughable,a 3 day cold spell

Same posters in the MOD thread that get fooled by a few cold charts every winter and take them as gospel. Then they get carried away and  their sheep get sucked in too, which leads to mass disappointment.  Should be a warning in that thread BEWARE OF SELF APPOINTED EXPERTS.

A question can someone explain when we get ball type snow showers and flake type and what is most likely tomorrow if we do kind regards ??

Probably wet snow initially so big flakes but as the cold air really digs in by tomorrow evening, drier, smaller flaked snow..

Yeah I agree this northern chip onthe shoulder thing really gets my ?, I’ve popped into their thread and was disappointed to read some really gfuqhgfpjhy remarks, exited pretty quick. It’s much kinder and civilised in here, hope we can keep it that way!

Certainly will even if it doesn't snow ?

Aah thanks for that I was just wondering because sometimes we have had showers classed as snow showers but the have fallen like small pea balls so I was just wondering in what conditions they come as flakes or the ball type, but many thanks for that ??
