What a miserable day, 3c and raining.

The front has certainly made more progress east than earlier fax charts suggested!

Is our chance of snow slipping away???

Yep :(, wintry showers mentioned this morning!

High temps too, not impressed another poor form by the models and more known forecasters re-snow and cold!

I feel that if we can get the cold air coming from the E or there abouts then with the sun we should get a bit of convection going and poss some snow coming across the land in our neck of the woods.  Convective showers normally do not show up on models.  How many times have you seen rain appear out of nowhere on the radar.

Fingers crossed we see a covering of the white stuff.

It’s certainly looking like a standard winter cold spell, but will make a nice change from what we have been used to.

Yeah you're right.. The rain wouldn't have got this far east if the ridge was stronger..

The pattern is less amplified than what the models were showing.

@stainesbloke just drove through the green few splodges of sleet hit the window unless I was dreaming

Looks a bit sleety here too, Surrey.

With temperatures around 3c, it’s perfectly plausible.

Get the feeling that even if everything aligns on the models, it seems to always underwhelm when it gets to our shores in reality.  We then have consoling messages such as (paraphrasing) "at least it is a change from what we have - frost is good!" or "2-3 days of cold is better than none"

Why is everyone so down beat? Everything is fine, nothing has changed

Was gonna say, looks good to be.. Some beefy snow showers certainly possible from tomorrow onwards

Agreed - Showers will turn to snow by tomorrow afternoon & possibly become heavier into the evening/overnight as a trough moves in.

Feet of snow? No, but certainly more snow than we’ve seen so far this winter

Yep, not buried but I think enough to in some places for nice photos. However I think anyone near the coast though will struggle to see settling snow

The band of rain this morning is further east than expected - I'm starting to get this feeling that we're going to end up with scraps again.

I’m not downbeat, just being realistic.

Will be nice for most of us to see some snow, but expectations need to be managed.....this is no beast from the east and would be quite a normal setup in winters gone by. I guess it looks more exceptional due to the crap we’ve had to endure.

Looks like the real fun and games come later in the month!

Sorry lol, I just think that the sea air will be warming immediate coastal areas. But just inland will be okay..

RE Met warning 1cm is more than most have had in that warning area all winter lol! Day one of the cold spell and we have a met warning.. Not bad

I'll second what the guys above are saying, stay calm guys, and don't get too far ahead of realistic timeframes. We have had a clear example just this week of how models didn't want to entertain the idea of the cold this weekend, and yet here we are, i would not look much further than midweek at the moment, some very small pushes could mean a whole lot of difference.

Well the birds are certainly stocking up today. Have had wood pigeons, starlings, robins and yellow tits eating (fighting) off the bird table this morning.

Looks like it’s trying to sleet in the heavier bursts of rain. 4C here now and a foul day. Seems like every weekend recently has been ruined by rain.

unfortunately Surrey, I think you could be right as I just looked at the met yellow warning for this area and it does not include ramsgate/ margate/herne bay/ whistable , all along that coast line infact.

Not too bad a day here so far, doesn’t feel particularly cold, fairly bright with sun trying to come through, hoping we don’t get that drizzly yuk come any further east.
