These setups always make me nervous here in east Berkshire. I might be in the middle of the 2 zones, which would be typical.

I can see where you’re coming from very unlucky. I suppose there is a danger a 50 mile ‘dry’ wide strip could be wedged in between frontal stuff not going E enough and snow showers not making it inland enough.

You don't like snow?

But I thought you said it fell in eloquence, silently shrouding the environs in frozen mystery with its gentle cover.

Yes, and that would really suck. I have read the possibility of the front stalling over this area, so that would bode well for all of us.

It’ll come down to nowcasting on the day I think.

I see you having at least one event from the frontal stuff I think one will at least reach the SE but it may turn more patchy not much snow or none. And when this cold spell breaks down I think there is strong possibility we all could see some with all the cold air being embedded in for a while, it won’t be a smooth transition.

I need to see a map which shows Bedford's game plan. This is for informed choices.  Getting old, frozen snow is nasty. I also have a bailey's coffee I haven't drunk yet.

BTW my Dear dad was born by the sound of bell bows and eh by gum I could understand that forecast.

Apart from the fronts off the Atlantic, and the snow streamers, I fully expect to see troughs pop up in the unstable flow, so we could all see more organised snow that way.

Knew I’d read something sensible in here!

Just popped in the MAD thread and it’s all very contradictory and argumentative. Though some in there you couldn’t please even if they were sitting in a 10 foot drift in a blizzard!

Don't panic.

We are still over 50% with just a touch over 48hours to go.

This is shaping us nicely.

I think we could be surprised anytime from Sunday onwards. The beauty of our location is once we have it cold enough we can get attacked from all angles and it all has good potential

Oh and can someone tell me how to put something in my signature. Cant find it under the 'edit profile' tab? - thanks!

EDIT: Ignore me - found it :D

Exactly.

Get the cold in. The rest will follow.

No balance at all in there. I would ignore the mild rampers though, there’s nothing mild on the horizon.

Snow is always difficult to predict and often throws surprises into the mix at short notice, especially in an unstable and very cold air flow.

Spot on!

This is exactly what we’ll start to see....in my opinion anyway.

For anyone concerned about the Met Office surface temperature predictions, they have already been corrected.

Yesterday they were predicting 4c by day for most of next week, this has now been revised to 2c / 3c.

I still think this is rather conservative and will drop further.

Because they're based purely on the GFS and change with every run, not worth paying attention to IMO

Just caught the Beeb's lunchtime Special: snow showers on Monday for parts of the London Area @7C!!:D

I bet he/she said “bitterly cold” whilst pointing at the 7C symbol as well. Drives me mad when they do that.
