What difference would it make if the  Met Office had given a amber warning for wind?

most people don't take any notice or even see them anyway, it's mostly people like us that are in to the weather.

I think that what Dami was meaning was that most people take notice if an incoming storm actually has a name and the papers take more notice if its an amber warming,, so more people are aware of it, and then they can do ittle things like bring small light items in from the garden, put the bins somewhere safe, maybe move the car from under dodgy looking trees.

It has been quite windy in Thurrock during the night and early hours of the morning.  The QE11 bridge was closed both ways from midnight and opened in sometime in the morning.  This caused long tailbacks of traffic that only started clearing by midday.  There has been widespread disruptions to the train and bus services.

This was a surprise when I opened the BBC weather app, gritters out Essex Countywide, each night all weekend, with a run Saturday morning at the moment. Subject to change, but did like the surprise on here.

Nothing much here, there was more damage from the last storm a couple of weeks ago. Wierd how areas not too far apart had such different impacts, though.

Not on gritters. I remember 2009/10 very well and that was a testing time. Updates were ten to the dozen throughout the night most times

Lol 87 was far worse

this was barely a light breeze here

Oh I know, that's why I pointed out that as I missed 87 last night was the worst I've heard.

Well this morning was wild, trees down, structural damage to the premises I work in and power problems throughout the day. I can't exactly say I was happy with last nights event even if it was interesting, also having to recover the bins which had flown across the garden was not fun (They were full as well). In terms of the models, well last night was a pretty big fail across the board with most models downgrading the strength when it corrected the low further south so were out by a good 10-20mph which is the difference between a bit of wind and the resulting event we saw.

As for now, a lot calmer with a few showers running through, there are some quite nice cloudscapes today.

Last evening when I looked on the BBC weather website for South Ockendon, they did not have any weather warnings for this area.

Yes, it's really dark (and purple!)  - We've had everything over the past 12 hours apart from snow!

I think this could be the one you refer to!

stayed at home as too much agro with trains this morning and lack of sleep waiting for the roof to come off so an just down the road to you.

I was back in Essex for the 87 storm- last night was nothing like that at all which was terrifying but still a teeth gritted one last night! Used to love the wind but now I finally own my own home I’m not so keen! :D

Wind kept me awake most of last night, but it was a lovely bright sunny (still windy!) day to follow. Dried the washing a treat but had to use twice as many pegs lol

Still reading 6C outside here, feeling a lot cooler in that stiff breeze though

The Aperge is of interest for Sunday, though the system is much further South compared to other models
