I'm surprised the aerial is still attached to the chimney stack, the wind is pounding down the side of the house :clapping:

70mph gusts at wittering. Not had wind like this for a long time. Met office have massively underestimated this little beast. Hearing that distinct constant roar outside reminiscent of the likes of October 2000, Boxing Day 1998 and January 2014.

Edit: now 74mph :help:

Quite gusty here at the moment. If i had to estimate i'd say gusts of 40 to 45 mph in the last 30 minutes.

Was always going to be a lively affair due to the fact the low is crossing the UK in its developmental phase.

Had some of those charts shown a few days ago come off, there would have been mass destruction due to the wind.

I can't say I have experienced gusts like this before, West facing bedroom and garden on the edge of miles of open fields.

Been awake since 2am and it's getting louder by the minute, going to be lots of car insurance claims for me to deal with today........

Crazy wind woke me at 04:00. Clear skies at that time and could see my trees thrashing around but now cloud has blacked out garden and can’t see what the massive thud was just now. Too scared to go out and check.  Accepting I face west, with open land beyond the garden and to some degree more exposed than most of the village, these are still the strongest winds experienced since moving down from Scotland in 2012. No idea what it’s gusting at but sounds like a plane engine prior to take off!

No warning in place here, yet the thing has woken me up. I can’t imagine this is great to be out it. Atleast a yellow warning.

EDIT: Just seen there is a yellow warning now. That’s a bit bloody late in the day. There was nothing here last night.

Massive blunder by the met office. Already hearing of early risers being blocked by fallen trees and flying debris. A bit too late for warnings now as this thing is rapidly departing!

Looks like we were both right! It’s insane outside, can’t even let dogs in the garden.

had to go out as my bins were in the middle of the road, bins down, my fence is down, i nearly fell down as i got whacked in the chops by a bin lid for good measure and there are two random bricks in the road:cc_confused: in other news, easterly over, snow over, winter over, October Fog Index said not much snow and seems to be correct.

Constant roar in the house now, lots of bangs and crashes outside, the horizon across the fields to my NW keeps getting lit up with power flashes.
