I'm just looking at how this winter has been, and listening to older folk who think this feels like a classic winter. I really do expect things to get rather ugly/improve immensely for cold soon. I'm probably wrong, but I do agree that this winter has been different to recent ones.

Hope your right. Quite a bit colder again by next Friday on the ICON.

DP has finally reached 0.0 here lol, how long till the wind changes to ESE Today's high only 4.8

Edit never mind it's clear on radar, theres a thin band of rain on the boundary.

Ok, well I have spent 4 days doing perfectly synchronized dancing to New Rules and Club Tropicana, building an entire lego town while cooking everything with a dollup if either Nutalla - and in the brief moments I have escaped my nieces, I tried to catch up with the general consensus of the OMD thread...and failed as it's more baffling than usual.

So, uh, what's occurring dear weather folk???

I totally agree, it’s been dire for us! If we only have cold zonality to look forward to, I’d rather have a cold high, like last January. Who wants wet snow (at best) which never sticks around.

A cold high is second most favourite on my winter weather list. Crisp frosty mornings where the frost stays in the shade all day and frozen lakes. Lovely jubbly, through in a hoar frost and its on par with snow

I totally agree. A hoar frost makes everything look magical with thick rime covering all surfaces!

Just seen the BBC week ahead forecast. It made me feel decidedly ill ... ?

Jet stream making a return with gales and rain.

With you there, Surrey. Love a decent cold high, with sunny days and frost and fog overnight. We rarely see them, these days.

Didn’t see it but that doesn’t look too far off from latest ECM. Not without interest beyond that mind but here we are, as always, looking in the 7-10 day range for possibilities. One thing’s for sure, unless that Atlantic trough disrupts against our block and clears SE’wards, then the fabled ‘beasterly’ won’t happen. So maybe not a bad thing, as long as the block holds and doesn’t get blown away in a flat pattern. As for this week, I can see nothing of any interest. Seasonal - but seasonal doesn’t mean wintry.
