Mostly cloudy, dry now but showers earlier after a ground frost around 3 am when the temperature dropped to 1.1 C, currently on 2.4 C

Moderate-heavy snow showers yesterday evening gave a fresh cover of 5cm but the showers were followed by a slow thaw. Dry with a few cloud breaks at present.

Variable cloud overnight, showery snow. Temperature up and down all night with thawing and refreezing as ground frost developed at times. The initial 5.0cm cover last night has compacted and melted down to 3.0cm, 80% cover. Clear spells so far this morning.

 

Maximum temperature to 18:00 GMT yesterday 5.9∞C.

Minimum temperature overnight -0.9∞C

Yesterday.

 

Mainly light rain continued until around midnight, becoming intermittent through the early hours. Much less cold than recent nights. Continued thaw of lying snow. Overcast so far this morning, continued thaw of lying snow, now only patchy cover, 2.0cm 50%. Cloudy through. The after saw moderate showery rain, turning cooler. Only a few patches of ice and snow left in sheltered spots. The evening saw a clearance with ground frost forming quickly. Around 19:00 GMT a spell of heavy rain which turned quickly to heavy snow producing a cover of around 5cm by 20:30 GMT.

Heavy overnight showers left a partial covering of snow. Showers of rain sleet and snow soon moved away leaving a dry cold day until evening when a band of heavy rain and sleet passed quickly through

Max temp 4.1C now 2.1C low 0.3C, Barometer 981mb rising slowly, Wind f2 SW, Rainfall 10.4mm

Early morning cloud cleared by 0920 and the rest of the morning was dry and sunny. Cloud increased quickly around midday and the afternoon was mainly cloudy with a few light showers, these becoming heavier by early evening and turning to sleet and wet snow.
