I do recall before the cold started in December 2009 it being very mild though the day and then the cold front came through we had back edge snow and it was cold for a few weeks. That stands out in my mind clearly.

33C in Singapore, similar on another occasion in Hong Kong, touching down in Manchester from Singapore at -1C and from Hong Kong a fuel stop in Frankfurt at -4 C., still -1 C Manchester with the Peak District well snow covered and even snow at home, about 1 cm. That was in November 1993 I think was the year.

Has to be when I used to spend Christmas in Brasil with family.

In January 2001, left Rio when it was about 40C there, and landed in Bristol where it was -2C. Equally, further back, left Rio in what must have been the high 30s, to Bristol on the 2nd January 1997 when there was a minimum of -7C.

A slightly more unusual one, leaving Rhodes on 21st July 2007 when it was 40C+ there, and only 12C in Bristol (not quite as big a jump, but ridiculous for high summer).
