It isn't really even that close. There seems to be nothing of any significance North of Birmingham, even here in Stoke there's no snow & we're about 30 miles from you as the crow flies, so you're about 70 from the snow.

I can report light snow is falling in Hadfield. Might get 12mm if lucky compared with the Midlands 80 + miles away that could get 200mm +

Radar showing heavy snow over Stoke, but there is none. Popped in here to see what's happening over Cheshire and peaks, but clearly not much lol!

Metoffice have snow and sleet forecast on Friday at the moment. Will be interesting to see that turn back to rain. 😂

Snow on the hills from what little precip had fallen here in the western peaks overnight, 370m is the snowline with nothing else at lower elevations. Kinder, Bleaklow, Brown Knoll, and Combs Moss getting the best accumulation.

The lightest of light snow falling when I put the wheely bin out earlier but even that has stopped now.

never mind it’s eyes down for Fridays letdown now, my fiver is going on plenty of precipitation and ourselves in the middle of it but then an area of milder uppers parks itself right over the region and all we get is rain whilst all areas north of us along with Yorkshire get buried.

Well i’ve had a look at all the models and snow is on the cards Friday if you live up a hill.

Further East and north you go the better.

Might be a trip somewhere Friday that’s high up

Well not many people live higher up hills than me but BBC only have me for a couple of hours of snow during the morning.

those graphics change constantly though so hopefully they’ll upgrade nearer to the time but i’m not expecting anything much so shouldn’t be disappointed on the day.

Looks like it will start as snow on Friday especially with the wind direction being favourable in the morning. Also we have -7 850s around tonight/tomorrow so if you were to catch a prolong shower then you never know.

Scientists predict 'mini ice age' could hit UK by 2030

A model of the Sun's magnetic activity suggests the River Thames may freeze over within two decades, experts say.

If thats not enough for us in the North West region I don't know what is.

Hooray a blue sky day - about time, not had one for 11 days now.. can see the fells again! and they are covered in snow, so it looks especially good set against the pale blue sky with not a cloud around. Cold to boot some patchy frost about. Tonight will be icy again, with perhaps an odd wintry shower - would be nice to see a slight dusting at least. More southern parts could see a few hefty snow showers overnight that will catch many by surprise as the wind veers more to the north west, just like what happened on the 8/9 Dec - almost a carbon copy.

Friday is looking increasingly wintry, a wave is set to form on the frontal feature and with embedded cold air, it could stall and pivot and produce some low level snow to much of the region, and could last quite some time - lets see. It woudl be sods law if it suddenly decides to move north, or indeed south - not south please, no no.. its our time!

It’s definitey marginal on Friday. The heavy snow symbol for me is now sleet and rain. No hope are rising here.

The northwest will probably still manage to miss all the snow somehow...

Thank you @damianslaw for confirming my thoughts about the 2 snow chances coming up. I am interested in tonight; there could be some surprises as you say.
