Beer. Football, Food, couldn't give a toss about the no snow! March 2013 was the last time snow lay on the ground here, absolutely pathetic! The longest run I can remember, climate change :bad:

Met office app shows my area having a dry day and a dry night to follow. Expect warning area to be shifted some way south before long.

Hooray a chink of blue brightness in the sky this morning, the first for 10 days, it really has been a woeful period for sunshine. Tomorrow and Thursday promise to be very good winter days with lots of bright sky and sunshine and cold with some frost - winter is back.. Alas whilst the fells are seeing some of the white stuff, apart from perhaps some transient wet snow early on the 29th we don't look like seeing any more snow this side of 2018 - we have been rather poorly placed for snowfall so far this winter, yet again too far north for anything from this evening potential event, we are getting the cold air, but the synoptics they don't play ball, shunt everything 150 miles north and we would have had three possible excellent snow events. Our time will come hopefully in Jan and Feb. I laughed yesterday when I saw a weather warning for rain just for Cumbria - gosh we never seem to escape the rain, its never marginal when it comes to that!

Looking forward to about 60 hours of cold crisp weather and will be nice to see some frost tomorrow and Thursday. If we can't have the snow, then a cold frosty sunny day inbetween christmas and new year is the next best thing - often occurs in some years, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2014 spring to mind, before turning wet and windy and mild just in time for New Year.

This Morning's Arpege model agrees with the GFS bringing the northern extent as per

Last nights GFS in a line from Liverpool to Sheffield

What about Boxing Day 2014; did you get nothing from that? If not that’s very unlucky. Got about 2 inches before it all melted. 11 days since my last lying snow here.

Falling snow yes, laying no (apart from wet slush on cars). The northern corner of the Wirral has been dreadful in recent years.

I stand to be corrected but lying snow more then 1cm, in Preston last time was 2010, even then only an inch at most, a bit less in 2009 and before then, I can't remember.

About right..basically the further away from the horrid irish sea the better...its warming influence can be seen time and time again during winter.

The UK really is crazy when it comes to weather, so many little micro climates it's ridiculous!

Not always. I was saying completely the opposite when I got a foot of snow on 17th Dec 2010.

Yes...7 years ago...think that says it all.

You need very rare synoptics to achieve that!!

Even if it makes into southern parts it will probably fall as rain.

Down to 2.9 C now as the wind goes off-shore.

Well it's still raining

Don’t worry, it’ll stop just as the snow starts in the Midlands.
