I work for the emergency services and normally we get a weather warning from the meto to plan for travel disruption but nothing yet which I am very surprised at usually it’s a few days in advance........I’ll update if one comes out today

BBC weather looking little bit better. With light snow symbols from 7am. I think the app haven't got a clue what would be like for tomorrorow it could be snowy or wet. I say 50/50 chance.

You would think some kind of warning will be out late this morning, but it wouldn't shock me if warnings aren't issued until tomorrow.

Probably a yellow will be issued for snow above 250m.

The potential storm on Wed/Thur may start off as amber and maybe move to red although Scotland have these systems more often than us and they didnt warrant the top level.

I give up with the metoffice TBH.

Its already passed the point were either its gross incompetence or all the data we have is a complete waste of space.

There is no way they will issue warnings tomorrow,it would just be pointless when commuters have made their journeys prior to the evening journey home.esp thosewho traverse higher routes.

As Cfallon says, they usually get a heads up a couple of days in advance- obv they don't think its going to be that snowy in our region.

Like i say, that means all the data we get to look at is a complete waste of time.

Yes, will probably be the usual warning of significant accumulations above 200m and some slushy deposits to lower levels.

Which means we are literally screwed.

Or the vast majority are, because the uppers are as good as its going to get from a west/north wester.

I don't really like bashing the MetO but they are going down in my estimations.

One hopes it will be lower which would be an upgrade.

By starting off higher, I will feel better if they go lower.

Sounds like " Play your cards right" LOL

Random number why not 225m

Snow will get to low levels and under streamers it will settle away from the coasts

I think they only go up in 50m intervals, I may be wrong.

Let me guess, your 25m below the 250m mark?

Yes, it is a concern that they are not getting a heads up to anything significant. The metoffice obviously have access to data that we don't so we can only assume this is not showing much of significance at lower levels at this stage. Whether or not warnings are issued this morning may reveal more and of course the updated high res snow accumulation charts.

The risk of any disruptive snow in NW England is likely still > 24 hrs away. I'd expect a warning to be issued this morning for accumulations mainly on the hills > 150/200 m from early tomorrow but at times to lower levels. There doesn't look like any significant snow for lowland NW England to me at the moment.

We're also likely to get an early warning for the storm mid week.
