I’m hoping that Euro4 will look a bit more promising once we get into the range of Tuesday evening/night.

If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.

18z GFS is rolling out and still looks very promising for our patch. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/maps/GFSOPEU18_39_2.png

But.

This for ALL of us in the North West is a real cause for concern.

I couldn’t be less concerned about some wind that I will sleep through.

Just want a decent snow event.

Just one per Winter will do.

If it doesn’t snow in inland areas on Tuesday night, then frankly, I give up. GFS is holding firm and looks absolutely spot on for some beefy snow showers.

Fingers crossed Joe-

I'm close to giving up chasing snowless rainbows myself.

No idea whether its a cycclical but we are stuck in the most depressing cycle of summer and winters i can ever remember.

Extreme wind event. Gusts of up to 100mph, a low pressure system plonking itself over Scotland directing heaviest winds right over our region.

BBC don't seem to have a clue what's going on.

North West forecast - wet and windy

National Forecast - sleet and snow in the North West

Hedging their bets?

The problem is no one knows exactly where this low will be once the weather System tonight/tomorrow moves through is going to be.

Anything north of Manchester and northern parts of wales away from the coasts could see heavy showers late Monday into Tuesday increasing turning to snow even down to low levels with some accumulations expected where showers are more frequent and band together.

The biggest ? Mark is Wednesday into Thursday and where this low will be as it stands at the moment anything north of Manchester should see snow on its leading edge. If it's slightly further south it will bring more of the south into the equation and vice Versa. This is the reason for all the uncertainties I'm sure.

Convinced now that this region is cursed, the second price of a decent storm is now on the downgrade according to 18z.

I think a few MPH to keep the tiles on.

Pity the tree uprooted though and fell on his roof.

I'm going to agree with you...

Yet when I was growing up as a kid in the 70's and my teens in the 80"s the winters did not seem that bad.

Something has changed and changed fir the worse

Wednesday night/ Thursday morning is really concerning. So similar to the 2007 storm I posted earlier, and also the one in Feb 2014 that caused a lot of damage. Both the thelwall viaduct and the Barton bridge closed. The Metoffice currently have me at 60mph gusts Thursday morning. The storm in 2014 has me at 63mph at the time (I was in Westhoughton), and I believe there were gusts of 85mph that day. Metoffice put out a red warning for Lancashire that day.

this looks almost the exact same areas.

As it stands only Scotland will see snow from that low. Before and after though plenty of wintry showers for the region.

Would not be surprised to see this move south in the next 36hrs probably bringing

Areas  Manchester north in the fireing line for snow.

I'd expect the MetO to issue Amber or Red warnings for the region for damaging winds.. this will be dangerous

Running out of time but yes there is still time. I have only seen what's been posted on forum tonight as on phone. As long as work isn't too late tomorrow will have a good look at Tues to Fri before posting.
