Remember this 2007 storm - this seems similar to this one for Wednesday night? Was awful.

As things stand this upcoming storm looks worse than that.

Remember it blowing a heavy shutter straight out of its tracks at work narrowly missing people working inside.

it then spent the next half hour blowing like a sail until we could stop it.

there was a lot of damage across the region and tragically several deaths, something that no one wants to see but as you say, the track and intensity seem very similar.

Hmmmm EC has gone from -7 uppers tues to -6 uppers..

Scotland /NI remain in -7 uppers which might be the difference between rain and snow.

As expected euro4 is crap.

If we are not upgraded to a yellow by the morning for tue i think we, or the vast majority can forget a snow event.

I reckon that’s going to be the reality, a wintry mix for most with a covering over high ground and probably a decent amount over the tops.

maybe some disruption on trans Pennine routes but for the vast majority it’ll probably be just cold, wet and miserable.

no science behind this but that puts me on a par with the models and professionals who also seem clueless with the upcoming events.

GFS indicating potential for 80/90mph gusts in exposed places on Wednesday night but indicates worst will have passed through before morning rush hour. Track of the storm is not nailed yet though.

Remember it well, large trees here bent pretty much horizontal for a time at its peak.

Yep, been through all the data i can see and im thinking its 300m plus job tues now.

I'll be delighted to be wrong mind.

:)

ps gfs charts are really a waste of time imho.

They have been showing snowmageddon tues in our regon for days-

reality is much more likely to look like euro4 unfortunately..

Tuesday prob your best chance for frequent heavy wintry showers, snow to modest low lying areas (settling snow more likely during night time hours) and where more organised bands of showers are persistant.

Lakes, pennines and peaks best places to be.

Far cry from what was showing just 48hrs ago.

Yes i been touting tues for a while, but the apps have downgraded, the EC has down graded the uppers, and the updated warnings still dont mention this region.

We may see upgrades tomorrow but i'm becoming more sceptical its not going to be a 300m event only.

Remember it too well. If I'd of been 5 mins earlier this roof would of been on top of me.

Looks okay to me, dew points below freezing and dropping, uppers around -6 to -8.c freezing level dropping during the day to near 150m by evening and euro 4 showing a rash of showers.

Not sure on your location, but i assume NW England is from cumbria down to around liverpool area??

Not from here so unsure of geography of region.

Guess we will see if theres any warnings tomorrow.

Uppers will be around -6 acc to ECM and euro4 is virtually snowless for the entire region ..

150m is a bit high for many in the region.

Remember, freezing level and temp will drop a fair bit during showers, especially where these become organised.

Dont give up the hope yet guys!!

Last comment on the 12z - lots of potential for most.

But.

This for ALL of us in the North West is a real cause for concern.
