Apparently it's snowing here, well according to the NW radar it is! It must be so heavy I've gone snow blind :fool:

It is very light here in orrell

Definate snowflakes falling here. Albeit sparse, and very light.

Seen it so many times before that's why I refuse to get carried along with the optimism.  There are really only 2 chances for us to get a decent snowfall here, a stalling front from the west or a cold w/nw anything other than that we can forget snow here.

We had a few snow showers yesterday and it was good to see snow falling, at least things were a little more seasonal.

I agree , I even opened a bottle of Mulled Wine and had my Everton Christmas Jumper on(I was cold) ...Unfortunately it's back to shorts and tee shirts today and a cold beer

Looking at how the models performed, the GFS and the ICON model were persistently north of the actual track. The ECM did very well in picking up the southern corrections and of course the short range models, in particular the euro 4.

Some dandruff fell here this morning when there was hardly any wind but as soon as the easterly picked up it dried up completely. As the band was further south, Staffordshire ended up in a rain shadow. Good to see that Manchester is not the only sufferer.

Despite some disputing your analysis a few days ago, you ended up more or less right with the track of the low.

We may have missed out largely from this snow event but I would rather have this  pattern than the awful December 2015 one. Remember Boxing Day 2015? :bad:

Indeed, though with a much flatter pattern being touted in FI let’s hope we don’t see a return to said conditions for any lengthy period of time, if at all for this winter. ?

Only slight comfort I've found is seeing pictures on facecloth of the amazing snow in northwest London when they've got about the same as my almost zilch.

still at least they've got more than the nothing they were expecting whereas we've gone from being buried to next to nothing.

i feel sorry for all the Man U fans sat at Euston wondering whether the snow on the lines is the wrong type.

Just dipping into this thread.

In London today it’s a north/south split. I’m up in Chingford in north east London and we have about 2/3 inches of snow whereas places in south London have none or very little. Shows how fine the margins are.

Pretty sure they got that one wrong as well with a last moment change of warning areas as it became apparent that the heaviest rain, expected in the Lakes and North Lancs became centred over south Lancashire, and northern Greater Manchester.

Well at least the next weather-event to look forward to in the NW isn't snow, it's the forecast thunderstorms for Weds.
