Seen some clear skies here that should help drop the temperatures abit.

That was some hail shower. Any colder and it would have been snowing and hailing. It accumulated for all of 2 minutes, but it was pretty intense.

Good News. ECM on board with other models for the Low shift south.

ECM, GEM and GFS have all shifted the low pressure on Wednesday further south snow now likely for northern England, deffo worth keeping an eye on thanks to @A_Paterson57 for pointing this out! #uksnow #SnowWatch

The thing moves through so fast it’s hard to see when that mild sector on the second image disappears! You can still see the sector in Europe on the third image.

TAF update.

Liverpool out to tomorrow 18Z; heavy rain showers and graupel showers.

Manchester out to Wed 00Z...a bit complicated; heavy rain showers, heavy rain/snow showers, light snow showers, snow showers,  and cumulonimbus with snow showers.

We can get to be north of the low‘s centre then we will get an off-shore wind for a time which changes the game for us completely.

in this case I'd probably disagree, there are milder uppers wrapping around the low, even around the area where the offshore wind would blow. Even if the offshore wind flicked the switch any snow would be very short lived as the W-NW wind would return very quickly. The setup is not as favourable as earlier in winter.. as it seems to steam through at a pace.. and we have no floodgates of easterly air opening. However, the setup you mention above could be very lucrative to inland areas.

Graupel  is effectively snow, but it's compacted in the same way that rain becomes hail. Graupel is a Cumulonimbus thing.. and therefore there should be some exciting weather anyway.

Boxing Day 2014, a case in point .

Jo Blyth’s forecast on Granada was less than inspiring for snow chances over the next couple of days and the graphics showed the midweek storm to be still to our north.

hopefully she was using old data.

now it’s eyes down for Di Ox or Eno to see how they can turn our best chance of snow for several winters into a mini heatwave.

If the wind will be as strong as it is now and showers as beefy as shown then we could be in for something interesting...

Sorry just me lowering the tone as always.

In all seriousness this event is starting to look quite exciting at least tomorrow.
