Wind keeps whipping up here in Leyland but then calms down, is it supposed to get any worse through the night?

It'll be interesting to see how many trees are down.. although previous storms probably weeded out the weak ones

Certainly windy out there but nothing we haven't seen each winter since eternity. I think the naming of storms just adds to the OMG factor when it's not warranted.

Monday 8 January—Sunday 14 January
A cold snap?

The cold weather looks set to firmly establish itself over the UK by the first part of next week. We can look forward to mainly dry weather, but with the risk of some widespread overnight frosts. There is great uncertainty as to how long this cold snap will last into next week. As fronts try to push back across the UK from the Atlantic we may see some significant snowfall in some areas.

Monday 15 January—Sunday 21 January
A return to milder conditions?

Frontal zones are likely to attempt to restore some Atlantic mobility with a renewed threat of snow. There are weak signals for unsettled, milder weather to return by the middle of January.

Exciting times on the BBC weather monthly outlook. Hope its for my back yard and a few others.

Well that’s the outside lights all taken down for another year.

just the tree and other bits and then it’s back to normal again.

as for the weather, it sure is breezy out there.

Nowhere near as bad as Doris last night although I am in a sheltered garden from the west. Max gust 31 mph. Most surprising was the lack of any big showers or any lightning activity in the region despite all of that CAPE. Table start

We were promised an unsettled week and it's living up to it's prognosis today.  Truly vile when under one of the heavy showers which are starting to filter in on a snappy breeze.  Light levels very low too... very gloomy.

You can be pretty sure that if the showers had been snow then they would have passed to our north or south but they’re not and they didn’t and it’s just plenty of cold rain.
