The temperature as it stands now will have little effect on what happens later. I've seen it time again where the temperature has been -4 about an hour before it started raining.

Wait until the cloud rolls in and the temperature and dew point shoot up. It's a nightmare like that here on low ground.

Well I have to say I’ve never seen that happen before here, since I started following the weather anyway. In my experience if it’s this low now I’ve got a 90% chance of snow. Just my experience in this location. If you are proved correct I will  gladly admit I was wrong.

55 metres

That’s practically Himalayan compared to me.

Exactly. I've never understood why we fair so badly for falling/settling snow here. I've seen snow melting with a temp and dew point below freezing. Even with 20-30 metres more height a couple of miles up the road, it's like a different world.

@captaincroc who also used to live in Crewe will tell you how bad it is.

I can back Aaron up ?.

I live 15 mins away now and the difference is massive.  Will give you updates tomorrow morning. Not expecting much here if I'm honest. But we shall see. We still have a cover in places from last night's snow.

I can never believe the difference, even between here and around Junction 16/A500 even though it's just a couple of miles away.

I can now report that we have an air frost. The fourth of the month. It wasn’t supposed to get below 2°C tonight so surely this is a big positive.

Just to say that Ireland was predicted 1-3cm by Met Eireann and got a yellow warning from ME... Well the precipitation is exclusively rain even as far east as Dublin. That doesn't bode particularly well for us.

Not sure how good this radar is with the precip types but there is some snow.

I can well believe it.

Apart from higher ground 100m+ I can't see where the snow is going to fall in lowland NW England.

Those with 100m+ elevation, especially the further NE in the region, could do well.

Not sure about Met.ie's covering Dublin. It was mainly focused in the NW quadrant. As the radar above shows the pinks are starting to appear. I'm in West Central Ulster so I'll give reports shortly. Met office warning shows me getting 5-10cms.

My temps were -1.7°C (dp -3.8°C) about 2 hours ago but these have climbed significantly since cloud has rolled in

Well Dublin is right on the east coast and with an on shore wind then its little surprise its raiining there but i do feel this is mainly a high ground event anyways, uppers are fairly un remarkable and there will be probably be too much breeze if albeit initially it will be an off shore wind for us.

At times like this, I wish I lived in Leeds really.

It seems to be slower than forecast? Looks more like 6-7am for it making inroads to our region now?

where we up to ?

If it rains i’m giving up.

X2 sliders missed then this may all be too much.

How much will evaporative cooling play a part ?

Back to sleep or stay up hhhhmmm?
