Are you joking! 1 cake every 4-5 years. I'm sorry but that's sh##te! And that gap appears to be growing.

Sorry, didn’t mean to come across like that. Just trying to say no point getting stressed about it, that is the way it is. :-)

Just  confirm to some, the warnings for snow are only in the extreme north and east of Manchester/Greater Manchester currently and Lancashire.

The amber warning is mostly to the north, so it can gradually slide down about 2 miles southwards per hour

And probably will!!

For my little part of the region this hasn't been a bad December at all!

ive had quite a few frosts and a fair few days of snow falling, and I think I had snow on the ground for about 4 days the other week. It does help that I am east of the region and my house is at 150m though.

hope everyone gets some snow for a few hours tomorrow, if not we will all go to willinglossops house to build snowmen. He always gets snow!

All welcome hehe ? just got back from Oldham through hailstorm.... been and picked up fireworks for New Years Eve... still a covering to 1cm of snow/graupel just started snowing again... hoping tomorrow morning is a nice snowy one... logs chopped and woodburner lit... beef stew for dinner and as was Ill over Christmas my Xmas supply of wine untouched so will crack open a bottle later...

I'd be happy with a covering for 2 hours lol

So would I. I did get that the other week though so maybe I’m being greedy.

Had a look at the warning area and I am in the yellow area.

I think "Willinglossop" is as well.

Elevation is key and I'm at 155m with my neighbour being a touch higher but not at 250M+ though.

I’m just above 300m... can see straight up bleaklow and across to the tippy top of kinder... should be high enough but the other day when it snowed the snow line was sharp at 350-400m...

I have everything crossed that this system does what every other system has done so far this year and moves further south.

Snow area will probably sink southwards. I think there’s loads of potential. I’ll be in this thread most of the day then :) Excellent.

I know Cumbria has had a lot of let downs but this time it is an organised system with loads of precipitation. What makes you think that it will miss out Cumbria?

Looking at the satellite shows how well developed the system is (currently approaching Ireland) https://en.sat24.com/en/gb/infraPolair

Well I've had downgrades in snow intensity for my location and the heaviest precipitation appears to be Lancashire or greater Manchester. Expecting 2cm max here in south lakes.

Of course if its rain then you can be assured it would be persistent and heavy but because its snow, then you can't help but feel its a different story but the met seems certain that those higher up could see quite a decent snow event and for lower levels and near the coast, then its probably not worth getting too excited about and besides, whether you get lots of snow or not, the whole lot will be history by Friday night..

It’s ok, a quick frolic in the snow is better than in the freezer! Trust me had plenty of let downs starting to forget that snow is really grey! ? ?
