Boxing day on the other hand looking good, even for me. Just like three years ago. Rain to snow I am thinking.

Closer inspection to next week doesn't look as good as I thought. Better inland and up the usual bloody hills! :nonono: Still waiting.... (for laying snow)

Only popping in on average once a day now, the recent cold snap well and truly put to bed.  I fully expect a lot of cold wet rain and strong winds after Christmas looking at that cold pool on the eastern side of the US firing up the jet-stream.  There will be cooler spells but unless some blocking shows up, it will be very high ground the usual favourables for wet slushy sleet.  Today was a borefest with the radar not picking up how heavy the drizzle was at times...need to see some sun.

Wow! I saw a shadow!

There was the briefest hint of brightness at 0930, before the sun rose into the gloom.

What a beautiful day for a change. Mild with strong sunshine. It’s lovely out there.

I saw some faint tinges of blue at 9am this morning and had my hopes up that the sun might make an appearance today but nah.....

2018 before we see the sun again?

Meanwhile up in Edinburgh where I am till late tomorrow it' been chilly but dry. No frost either but the sun has shown itself on several occasions.

Fingers crossed, boxing day will be interesting back in the Peak District.

Still looking good on Boxing Day night for rain to snow. It won’t stick around but it’s unrealistic to expect that anyway.

Seventh day in a row with no sunshine.. the gloom, another very early descent into dusk on the cards, tomorrow promises to be one of those very typical christmas eves. mild and miserable with heavy rain mid afternoon -there will be a very darkening feel to things as the shops all close at 4pm and it will be fully black by then - quite seasonal..

Christmas Day a rain fest..

Boxing Day hopefully should deliver some brightness and will be much colder in feel, with some white showing on the fells - will need it after 10 days of no sun!
