The signal for a short spell of snow for most is still there for around 10pm tonight.

After that, models look rubbish for snow in the run up to Christmas.

Might be the last chance to get some wet slush falling from the skies tonight, as the models showing a green, sometimes wet run-up to xmas.  I was wondering why the model thread's gone from 300 members to just 30.

Yes dodge- it looks really really bleak this morning- you have to say once the wheels start falling off boy do they come off!!

At least we got 4 days of snowcover and some cold weather this Dec as opposed to the last few decembers.

But looking at EC/GFS its a horrible horrible pattern setting up, lets just hope it doesnt last for weeks on end!!

Onto tonight- think its a damp squib unless your 300m up a hill.

Ian fergusson just tweeted, a risk of snow for a time down to low levels M4 north in his region. So this bodes well for us surely.

Yes that sounds OK- think quite a few will see falling snow but laying snow will be high ground only imho.

Sometimes the most marginal events are the better ones.. if meto put out a warning this morning for accumulations on high ground then interest will grow..

METO going for some accumulations but mainly on high ground-

Doesn't specify what constitutes high ground but i'd stab at 300m- good news for frosty ground CFallon and will.

below 300m probably wet.

The chief forecaster assessment says 2-5 cm above 200m.

So sleet for most of us lower down I suppose ha.

As I said yesterday, Manchester looks to have found it’s rain again just as it’s mild enough not to snow...... disgusting weather out there.

Yup, absolutely disgusting out there at the moment.

Looks like it should pass through fairly quickly though.

Looks good for you folk on high ground, if the roads aren't too bad I might visit my brother in the morning who lives in Denshaw at 250m, should be a covering there.

Yes i think 250m should suffice for a covering - perhaps a couple of cm- bbc suggesting snow accumulating over the hills.

Euro 4 again disappointing- what a suprise!!!

Just had a bit of hail from a passing shower.

Despite the snow disappointments, I will remember this cold spell fondly by this time next week when the horrid southesterly will bring temperatures in the teens.

Let's hope the 6z GFS is onto something.

I'll be in Buxton tonight for the new Star Wars flick and the forecast is looking good for snow as the temps drop further on into the evening.
