METO showing sleet and snow before changing back to rain tonight, however with the surface cold I fear freezing rain will be more of an issue tonight leading to some black ice and very unpleasant conditions in the morning.

I got the new Star Wars movie to watch in Buxton late tomorrow night, so keeping a eye on the forecast as if it snows then likely Buxton will be seeing more accumulation and i'll either have to postpone seeing it until the weekend or decide whether staying over at a B&B is the better option.

We have to remember it is what happening up there is very important. It maybe cold at the surface but if there is a warmer layer up there, we won't get snow.

Who remembers that day at the end of 2005 when we had heavy rain and temperatures of just 1C!

Thicknesses of 532dam as the front approaches, no chance of snow from that

Something wet on the way to remove the snow & ice left on the ground from Fri/Sat.   Not a bad cold spell really, although Sunday was a let down, the temps have been sub zero overnight and barely at or above during the day.  Much better than mild wet westerlies

Yes i noticed the meto prognosis for wednesday-

sounds good for those with some altitude - dew points look suprisingly low from a westerly source- its only my two penneth but i suspect 200 m is going to be needed (minimum).

Just patches of snow left around here now in shaded areas, had a drive to Oldham town centre and noticed once you get roughly above 150m the snow is covering most of the pavements and gardens.
