Summer style rain moving through here. Absolutely torrential, squally winds sending it in sheets, and overflowing gutters.

Gotta get at least 10 minutes of interest from this Atlantic non-weather.

What time do you think will be the peak gusts for Clevedon area?

Very windy now the heavy rain has gone.

Instant wind switch to the West?! That's where i'm looking to break my records. :)

I would think 3am-9am is the windiest window with winds easing as tomorrow goes on.

Interesting temperature fluctuations too. 09.4C at 8pm, 11.8C at 9pm and 10.0C at 10pm.

Judging by the NW radar, I'm expecting the squall to hit about 11 pm here in Newbury, so may stay up and listen to the gusts and the horizontal rain hitting the windows.

Feeling a Dejavu starting to happen all over again in the model thread. Is the ecm playing mind games again. We shall see!

Ah the good ol 10day promise again, that goes pear shape:nonono:

I think Knocker has the right idea the shorter range thread is a much better place to be, but year after year people still go for the 10day promise only to get burnt at the shorter range..

Best squall line in ages! Even hints of weak tornadic activity with rain swirling around for half a minute and hitting all sides of the house.

Also as others have stated the wind is worse now the rain has eased.

There has been violent winds and torrential rain here in Bridport lasting 15 minutes , quite an experience!

Nice to see another squall line fall apart before it reaches here. You can bet it reinvigorates when it has passed.

Had that swirling rain here too, thought I was seeing things, much like the Autumn winds making leaves swirl but the only leaves left are currently blocking the gutters lol.

Top guest now 32mph in sheltered location. Also it's a toasty 12.1°C.

I have moved upstairs so it could be that from the direction of the wind I'm not hearing it so well, but there seems to be a brief lull at the moment .

I lookd on a local weather station but I think it's broken as the wind speed throughout. The evening has only been 4- 5 mph .

I think it's been a little more than. That .

I ve ordered ( children. Will put towards it ) a weather monitor as it's my birthday on Monday . I mean. What else does a forty something nearer but not quite near to fifty get ?

Ah the good ol letterbox is now rattling again . That's reassuring .

Watching that front approach me in Hants and got to wondering if “squall line” is really the proper term as everything I’ve read indicates that they have embedded thunderstorms in them but this doesn’t ?

I know what you mean. The British seem to have adopted it and use it loosely. But in the US, their sleet is different to our sleet.

We would normally call it a LEWP Line Echo Wave Pattern, but that means having to explain it a lot.

Blown through here now, came through about 10:45 pm, nothing much to it as a few others have stated, looks like its pepping up again as it rushes down the M4 towards London and holding itself together better nearer the South Coast.
