Temperature 1 C here in Stroud. Radar says sleet but just checked and light snow is falling so I'm off to bed happy and hope to dream of a winter wonderland!

You should be fine in stroud!!! Wow, 1c?  its showing 1c here in cheltenham.. Id expect at least -1 up there... I guess the air coming in has helped upp the temp.

Light snow here in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Settling on cars, bins and the bits of road that started off dry. Temp currently 1.2C, risen from 0.9C by about 0.1C every 15mins. Already better than anything I expected really. The Chilterns are going to get pasted from this,

Turned into moderate rain here in Abingdon now, temp steady at 1.1C for last hour. All of the light covering has now melted.

struggling to sleep as it's so warm....nah, only joking.......just had a cheeky smoke outside and it is currently raining steadily....very calm with no wind yet....the modelled radar infers the snowline is about 20 miles north of me, so pretty close and I'm hopeful of  a change over to snow towards late morning....fingers crossed....anyhoos back to bed for a few hours,

The irony is that the 0z highest resolution model, AROME, is showing the snowiest output for here that I have seen - according to it we should have pretty much avoided the rain completely. Even BBC now has a max temp of 1C (it started at 5C yesterday) and shows snow for 16 of the next 18 hours, whereas previously it was mostly rain. Crap again.

Unlucky mate. It was a very light covering, talking a 1mm-2mm dusting or so. But yeah when snowless for so long just seeing something at all is nice.

Right now it appears to be sleeting, nearer the rain end of the sleet spectrum, and 1.1C. Off to sleep now, hopefully to wake up mid morning to a winter wonderland.

  • Thanks 1

Now turned to heavy snow, was rain at 3am, the gritter just woke me up blasting up the hill.

this could well be the heaviest snow I've seen since 2009.

Good luck everyone else,

Radar says rain in swindon, however it's snowing heavily and lying. Live feed at the tip shows this perfectly .https://www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20015/bins_rubbish_and_recycling/519/check_the_queues_on_the_tip_webcam

It's blustery and coming down fast. I think we are done with the period of rain/sleet :)
