Heavy rain, strong winds and thunder here in Mudeford. Just imagine if if was a bit colder. :fool:

Replace the rain with snow and I would find that even more exciting but agreed it is still fun to see.

Just woken up by very heavy rain and very strong winds. Haven’t heard any thunder but can see there’s lightning not far away.

It's coming your way, or you have very good double glazing :D

May have heard a rumble a couple of minutes ago but the rain was so loud against the window it was hard to tell whether it was thunder or the wind.

Seems to have calmed down at the moment.

Now I can hear thunder.

Just looked and that rain just now at one point had a rain rate of 384mm/hr. :shok:

Also had a 49mph gust which easily breaks my wind gust record.

Drove south to Downton on the A338 earlier and saw the odd flash of lightning over the Solent/Channel. Didn't walk, as it was horrible out there.

Windy now, but brightening up.

Some torrential hailstorms here............I thought it was the roof caving in!

It has certainly been a memorable Christmas/New Year period, weather-wise.

Rather interesting morning, some heavy showery rain and distant lightning became visible to the south around 6:30, then a couple closer flashes/rumbles and a good view as the rain cleared, saw a few distant forks and anvil crawler type bolts. Still flashing away as it drifted esst in the channel at 8-8:30am.

At 7:15 a heavy shower with some pretty strong gusts temporarily hindered the view (39mph on my station, 49mph just up the road).

and around 10am a large heavy shower with briefly very strong winds arrived! 47mph on my station which is the strongest of the year, and 53mph up the road. Felt properly stormy with the heavy rain and wind.
Sun has come out now with only a light breeze gusting to 11mph.. but the next line is visible.

Would have been interesting to get the thunderstorm and intense rain overhead like south Devon got, our ~5mm left a surprising amount of water on the roads earlier.

Certainly some heavy bursts of rain are likely, across our region.

Was this an act of "God" or electronic wizardry at it's most timely, I wonder. OR, is "God" a SW&CSE member..... I wonder..

47mph convective gust just a moment ago, not as brutal as earlier, but still good fun nonetheless! 13.6mm of rain so far. More tonight, and more tomorrow night.

Some good charts for the weather so far..

Another insane downpour here, winds really picked up briefly and temp took a nose dive from 7.3c to 4.9c.

That’s now 13.46mm if rain today. Approaching 100mm for the month

Is that looking North, Mapantz?

If so, this is the same looking South from here.

It's looking SSE for me, towards the IoW.

You wouldn’t know what it was like a few hours ago when looking outside now. Blue skies and a light breeze.
